Fall Beers

Hey Guys.....So where I live in Northern NJ we don't have a wide or great selection of Fall beer. This is my absolute favorite time for beer with staples such as Sam Adams Oktoberfest, Dog Fish Head Punkn' beer and Ship Yard Pumpkin beer. I tried a bottle of Southern Tier Harvest this past weekend and really did not like it, but my Blue Point Brewery Blueberry Ale certainly made up for it!! I have a Total Wine and a Joe's Canal store by me, but the little mom and pop liquor stores stock the major brands only. Can someone reccomend to me a really good pumpkin or fall beer that you would suggest I try!! I love tryin new beers during this season!!

Thanks!!

Re: Fall Beers

I made a pumpkin beer back when I home brewed and it was pretty good but not what I would call a good beer flavor, anymore than the fatal attempt at Jalapeno beer! Look for some Octoberfest beers, Great lakes makes a very good one as well as many other brewers up your way. Pick up a bottle or 2 and try them. You may be surprised at how many good beers are on the market.

Where is the Joe's Canal by Paramus Jon? I'd like to pop in there.

Hey Don,
Did you try the Rogue Chipotle Ale when you were at their brewery in Oregon this summer?
I did and liked it. Thus proving that you idea was viable!

Sorry Scott.....I should have been more specific!! The Joe's Canal is actually in Woodbridge, NJ....right off the GSP at Exit 130 on Rt. 1. I frequent there because my girlfriend lives off that exit!

I did try it, was very tasty as well. Sierra Nevada Ales are excellent, well worth picking some up.

Yea...I think they have a great selection there!! I will go to Total Wine during the week for my regular beers, but I head over to Joe's on the weekends mainly! I would suggest a trip to Joe's for at least a looksy!!

Re: Fall Beers

I look forward to Spaten Oktoberfest and Sam Adams Octoberfest in the fall. Other cool weather favorites are Ommegang Rare Vos and Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock, which is great with a full-flavored cigar -- as is a Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout.
