Gingery/Asiany Barbeque Sauce

I just made this up- so this is an eyeballed only type of recipe. I bought some big chicken breasts and will be grilling them tomorrow so I decided to make a sauce for them tomorrow.

So I started with a medium sizedcereal bowl.

Fill this bowl up about halfway with Kraft Mesquite Smoke BBQ Sauce (yeah, yeah I know)

Chop about a quarter cup of green onions-finely chopped and add them to the sauce

Add about 2-3 tablespoons of soy sauce

Add about 2-5 tblspoons of ground ginger (depending on how sweet you want this)

2 tblspoons of ground coriander

1 teaspoon olive oil

2 teaspoons Chalula or Tabasco or your favourite hot sauce (not salsa)

I added lots of Red Pepper Flakes...I mean lots- I like mine to be a bit warm- so add these to taste

I added a bit of water to thin it out

Stir

Taste, add or take away ingredients as necessary.

Sorry this is so guessed but it provides a basic layout for what I would say is a nice sauce. I hope the flavours will marry a bit more over night.

That sounds great, Trent!

I might add something a little more viscous, and it would make a perfect marinade... I'm not sure what though. I've gotta try this!!!!!

I generally eyeball the bbq sauces. I hope it gets the job done on your next bbq.

Re: Gingery/Asiany Barbeque Sauce

actually sounds pretty good...

although I might consider using somthing other than Olive Oil... flavor might be too strong especially if it's "EVOO" (as that hottie Rachel Ray likes to say).

depending on how the sauce is going to be used, I might even try Sesame Oil... although I think the smoke and flash points of Sesame Oil is pretty low... it should be okay for grilling tho...

are you going to marinate and grill? or brush it on while grilling? or...?

I'm actually warming the grill now. Plan on brushing while on the grill. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Tanner- that's what I was going for at first- more of a marinade. Let me know if you come up with anything!

Jinny- Sesame oil is a great idea! I forgot that I had a bottle and that is definitely a great way to get an asian taste. I'll try that next time.

I just barely added the EVOO (heh) for some extra fat content and to help the meat keep from sticking- at least in theory.

Turned out great! Actually, very yummy. Made fried rice with it as well. Yum! I recommend it.
