Mother's Day Dinner & Penfolds Grange 1998

Well after giving me my second child about a month ago, I think I owe at least a strong effort in the kitchen for Mother's Day.

Stuffed Pepper's
Wild Mushroom Risotto
some aged Filet Mignon

But after nine months of no drinking she said to pull out a good bottle. Well I couldn't argue with that either. Out comes a 98' Penfolds Grange - an awesome bottle of wine!!

If it all comes out well, I think I might get away with a good smoke later tonight - the weather is perfect for it.

How could you kill such a good steak with bacon? When I lived in Missouri, I had to search out a butcher that would separate a few out for me when he was cutting to keep the bacon flavor out! Everyone thought we were crazy, as you couldn't find Filet without bacon anywhere in MO. Don't get me wrong I love bacon. I'm always the one waking everyone up at the campsite with the smell of bacon, just keep it away from my steak.

With that said, look like she will have a good time! Took mine to Outback (her favorite place) for prime rib and we're about ready to go out on the porch and have a few drinks. It is absolutely beautiful out today!

Wow, that was a real banger of wine! Good for you. Not many would really appreciate how good a bottle that is... Sounds like a good menu to me.
