Cedar Plank Grilling

I got a cedar plank grilling set for my birthday this week and last night I tried it for the first time.

I got the Plank Grilling Cookbook and make the Red Pepper Jelly and Mustard Chicken and the Lemon Zested Asparagus on cedar planks last night. It was amazing, so tasty and juicy!

I love smoking my own meats and grilling and this just added a whole new dimension to my life. Who else does plank grilling and what are your favorite tricks/tips and recipes?

Re: Cedar Plank Grilling

I used to cook fresh fish and other stuff over campfires on planks, usually oak though.

My personal fav was soaking a dry oak board in beer for a day before, and grilling my chicken on it. Nice taste.

I tried doing this and ended up burning the planks. I soaked them for quite a long time, but.......

I burned my plank last night too. It's an art I guess. Pretty much like I FUBAR'ed my first couple of smoked meat attempts. I figure it will take a good stock of lumber before I get it down.
