Heya guys,
Had some people asking me about the new game I'm working on for the site, and Jon said a few people asked him. So I figured I might as well make a thread so I can post news and updates about the game so you guys all know where I'm at. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post here. Also look for my posts for information and more NEWS & UPDATES! Thanks Fellas, Cory |

Re: Diplomacy of Middle-Earth - NEWS & UPDATES
Was talking to John and I told him I hope to have the game up soon. Got a good amount of work done today, all the templates are finish. As of now I just got to code the game itself in PHP and then integrate it with vBulletin. I was waiting to contact a buddy of mine whom I had worked with on vBulletin modifications before, and he has much more experience with vBulletin than I do, but he hasn't been on for 3 weeks.
I found another guy willing to help me out with my questions and possibly give some input on the game as well. Just met him on a vBulletin coding site, but he seems to be very knowledgeable and has contributed several modifications for free to the community. May be difficult to keep in contact with him, since he lives in Israel, may just have to stay up late or get up early one day hehe. Its difficult for me to get documentation for vBulletin at the moment. They keep all the resouces on vBulletin.org, but in order to view them you need an active vBulletin license, which I do not have (kind of silly to require that...). I also got a buddy of mine doing some artwork for the game. He lives in France so its difficult at times being able to contact him. Hes a great digital brusher though, look forward to seeing his art work. Haven't been able to talk with him for the past week though. He just moved into his new house. Was also waiting on a buddy of mine whom I game with on occasion. He is a Middle-Earth fanatic, hes read all the books (several times) and knows everything about Middle-Earth that there possibly is to know. Was going to have him help me with some of the Nation and Unit descriptions as well as plan some of the quests. But like the others, I've had difficulty communicating with this person. He hasn't been online for a month now. As of now I got all the HTML templates done. The front-end and pyshical aspects of the game that you will see. Now its just about making them work and making it look better with some nice art work and men descriptions. I did half the men descriptions already, and have made some slight changes to what men each nation has, which may change even more. I'll keep you guys posted! Thanks, Cory |

Re: Diplomacy of Middle-Earth - NEWS & UPDATES
Hey guys, sorry for such a long wait. Heres another update.
I've temporarily suspended further development on the game due to personal reasons. I've had an anxiety disorder for 4 and a half years now. Was under good management for the past few years until about 4 months ago when it started coming back and my medications weren't helping. Luckily I managed to get into a treatment and research program at the "Center for Anxiety Related Disorders" which is in Boston. I've been having to go there for the program I'm participating in, and when I'm home I haven't been leaving my bedroom often, just don't feel so great. This center is the best in the world and they really know what they are doing, so hopefully in a few months maybe I will have my anxiety under management (without medication too!). I still am trying to do some work here and there on the game, but at this rate it will take a while. It hurts being limited in resources as well. vBulletin has all their documentation and support community limited to people with active vBulletin licenses. I had a single small issue about 2 weeks back that took me 5 days to find a simple answer to, due to the fact I couldn't ask on their forums which I don't have access to, and couldn't read the documentation and articles. Found another site for vBulletin mod making but they aren't nearly as active. They typically see 20-30 users a day, so its hard. Sucks not being able to smoke too, haven't been able to have a cigar all summer now. Really bummin' me out. I got some great sticks waiting for me too in my new humidor. Things are difficult, I haven't been able to hold a job because of my anxiety for the past 3 years. I've just been doing freelance web design and development work for money here and there, but nothing great on income, and I haven't even been able to do that very well for the past few months, and particularly the past few weeks. I'll keep you guys updated on both the game and my situation. Sorry I haven't bee too active lately! |
