Keep an eye on those beads now....they can be recalibrated to regulate to a different RH level by extended periods of soaking/drying. I had a set that were regulating to 80%RH after being too wet for too long....although that doesn't seem to be your problem now.

If you decide to keep those credos, they might need more pg. Depending upon how old they are, they might have had all of the pg diluted too much for it to serve a regulating purpose.

Ok, I've re-organized, and drained the beads out - I have also given the beads a better spread throughout the humi.

Next up...Salt test!

Did you say you were using a solution on the beads?

If so I would dry them out, then add distilled water. Even if not I'd still dry some out.

They shoudln't really be standing in water (and I only used distilled water, no 50-50 or other mixture). Spray the beads with distilled water until 60 - 70% of them turn clear, then you're good to go. Also spread them out as much as possible (i.e. tray/mesh bag vs. a bowl), the more surface area they have, the more efficient they are.

Second, salt test your hygrometer, and even though they are inaccurate, go to Wal-Mart and buy a couple of those cheap $8 digital hygrometers, salt test those (just so you KNOW how far they are off, trust me, they'll be off) and put them in the room in a couple of different areas. The great thing about the Wal-Mart cheapos is they have a temp and humidity HISTORY stored within the unit, which will tell you EXACTLY how far your room is swinging between 2PM and 2AM.

While this may sound like a lot of work initially, it's not that bad, and well worth it for a humi (and stockpile) of that size.

Hope this helps.

I just did the same with my humidors and coolidor. Got a few of those walmart hygrometers and the beads from heartfelt. Salt tested the hygrometers and at most were +/- 3% RH. All of mine are holding steady right now and I've had the most trouble with one of the humidors previously.
