Smoking a REO....

Tomorrows my birthday, so I decided to grind up some fresh espresso beans, make a pot, and smoke a cigar tonight regardless of the crappy rainy weather.

I picked a Rocky Patel REO that Syekick so graciously sent to me in his "Name That Tune" contest last week. I've never had this particular cigar before, but I've loved all the other Rocky Patel sticks that I've tried in the past. So far this one is not going to kick that trend.

After the coffee was done, I clipped the cap and took a nice free pre-draw and immediately tasted tons of spicy goodness. I love spicy, peppery cigars so I was pleased right from the start. After lighting it, the spicy tones continued, but now that I'm through the first third of the stick (Im still smoking it right now) its mellowed out into a rich, creamy flavor profile.

I just put the cigar down for a good 7-10 minutes will I fired up the laptop, and its still burning strong without any help from me.

Im also getting a bit of nuttyness that is complimenting the strong espresso very well.

So far so good. I guess Syekick unknowingly just hurt my Visa card again, because I'm already looking for a fiver over at Cbid.

First, I want to wish you a happy birthday. You picked a great cigar. Enjoy. But I want to say be thankful for the "crappy" rain. It has been so hot here in the south, that we would love to get some of that rain just to cool things off a little.

Happy Birthday. Thats a cigar I have been meaning to try. I dont usually go for the real peppery ones, but I dont hate them either.

Re: Smoking a REO....

I just wanted to thank everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a kick-ass day!

My fiance surprised me by taking me out to dinner at a local place in NJ called Ashes. Its a cigar-friendly restaurant lounge that has great steaks, and an awesome atmosphere to enjoy a knob creek & a cigar. Whats even better about it is although they have a humidor where you can purchase cigars, there is NO lighting-fee for bringing your own!

So after a great steak dinner, we went to the lounge and I lit up a LGC R that I brought with me and enjoyed the hell out of it. Then my fiance takes me to the humidor and tells me to pick out a few sticks...her treat

I grabbed 2 LFD chisels, and a La Aurora 1495. What a great birthday!

Re: Smoking a REO....

After trying a couple in an RP sampler, I bought a box of the REO robustos.
They're an awesome full-flavored, mid-strength cigar. Really rich, full taste- yum!
