I don't think that my old favorites still thrill as they did when first smoked but many of them have become reliable friends that still give me a good smoke when I return to them.

I still enjoy some of the cigars I first smoked such as Punch, HDM, Montecristo, and AF 8-5-8. My tastes have expanded as I try different sticks, but the classics still satisfy.

I always like revisiting an old friend from time to time. Keeps the palette fresh.

I've found that when a cigar absolutely amazes me the first time I have it, I can never seem to recapture the same taste and experience a second time.

I am still smoking Padrons and am still loving them.
Padrons were not the first cigars I tried but they are certianly my goto cigar for many moons now.

I think that when you start with a cigar like anything from the Fuente line, you're bound to like it and continue to like it because it's a darn good cigar and has something to offer for everyone.

I've noticed this too and it's a shame but sometimes that is exactly the way it goes.

I went back to some of my goto cigars.
Black Pearl Rojo was my all time favorite for about 1 1/2. When I went back to 3 years later it was good but not as smooth as I rember.

Sancho Panza Extra-Fuerte was another goto that I had in my rotation for over a year. I went back to it after a year without smoking one. Still a very good cigar but did not have the perfect balance I rembered.

Re: Cigars Revisited. Do Old Favorites Still Thrill?

First cigar I ever had was a Corona from La Aurora.

Lotta water under the bridge, but I still smoke it today as a short smoke; that and the Petit Corona and the Belicoso Maduro in their regular line.

Over the 34 years that I've been smoking, every other cigar I know has had ups and downs. La Aurora has been spot-on consistent throughout - never had a bad one.

That's quality control.

Cool Re: Cigars Revisited. Do Old Favorites Still Thrill?

It reminds me of what King Edward VII of England said "Gentlemen, you may smoke." I am assuming that he was speaking about his favorite cigar he remembers all to well.

Re: Cigars Revisited. Do Old Favorites Still Thrill?

One of my noob-gars was the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte natural. I smoked quite a few of them back when I started and loved them. Then as I moved on to other smokes, the ITSF was slowly forgotten until I got on c bid and got some more.

I'm smoking one right now, and they still rock mah world like they used to!

One that doesn't do it for me anymore: green label Fuentes. They taste awful to me for some reason, and 3 yrs ago they were one of my favorites.
