If you live in a dryer climate, go 70%
but if you are in a wetter climate, I'd say 65%

I like 65%, but it's all in what you like.

Re: Beads - which to buy, 65% or 70%?

I like to keep mine around the low 60's, so I'd personally go with the 65%. I hear the heartfelt beads are a great product, and I would not hesitate to buy them. However, since I couldn't wait for beads to arrive, I went with the silica bead kitty litter option and it has worked so well I've stuck with it for the past 6 months. Humidity holds in the low 60's and I haven't touched the beads in a months or so.

Re: Beads - which to buy, 65% or 70%?

Great timing for this. I went to town and bought a 120 qt. future coolidor just tonite. I ordered a pound of the 65% beads from heartfelt. I should have enough leftovers to switch my humi's over as well.

I had heard about the slope, I just didn't realize I was standing this close to it.

Id suggest grabbing 1 pound, I bought a 1/2 pound before. Then ending up getting another pound. Can never have too much on hand.

Re: Beads - which to buy, 65% or 70%?

Being new to cigars, I faced the same question of what beads to go with. In the end I decided on a compromise. I took the humidifier that came with my humidor and put 65% RH beads in it and then put 70% RH beads in a 1oz tube as well. I figured that would give me a good middle of the road humidity. So far so good. I just hope this isn't a terrible idea.

Re: Beads - which to buy, 65% or 70%?

I have a Puck with 65% beads for my getting ready to smoke sticks, and 70% beads in my humi. I think it's all a matter of which you prefer IMO. Some like theirs at low to mid 60's while others prefer upper 60's low 70's.
