smoking in car

My friends and I were driving to somplace. I was in the back and my other friend was sitting shotgun, so we decided to smoke. So I am getting into my cigar and I can not relax, I was not doing anything, but I just couldnt sit and relax there. It was night time, I was tired, and a little wind was in my face, those were the conditions. I am wondering if anyone else is like that??

There is only one thing that would be worse than that....

Same ride, no cigar

Re: smoking in car

Smoking a good cigar will definately affect my driving.

I try to both relax while smoking & driving, and pace myself so that the drive is more enjoyable. Overall it works well during a more distant (rather than city) drive. Using a car ozonizer helps minimize the odor generated.

Re: smoking in car

I smoke just about every morning in my 1 to 11/2 commute. I cant imagine not smoking on a nice long drive when the weather is nice.

Re: smoking in car

For me, it depends on the cigar. Usually I don't enjoy smoking while driving because you just can't really enjoy the cigar. But, sometimes on a long drive a cigar is nice to help occupy the drive. I wouldn't smoke anything I would consider a special cigar though.

Re: smoking in car

I love to smoke in my car...especially during the warm months. What I usually do is roll the windows down to keep the smoke smell to a minimum. But the important thing is that when I do decide to smoke and drive, I ALWAYS take the back roads. You can just ease on down the road and be relaxed. And this also doesn't create alot of wind from the windows so you don't end up with a wierd burn or a big clump of ash getting knocked off into your lap.

Re: smoking in car

I often smoke in the car when I know I will be driving for a while on a stretch of road that is boring or when I know I'm going to be stuck in traffic. I think it's a great way to relax and occupy what otherwise would be some very boring downtime.

If I'm not going too fast, I'll open the moonroof all the way; if I'm going to be on the freeway where there's lots of wind noise, I'll just open it vertically a bit so the smoke can drift out. As soon as I exit, I'll open the moonroof all the way and roll down the windows a bit. I haven't yet noticed a problem with the odor.

Re: smoking in car

If there's one thing I really enjoy, that is driving and burning. The two go hand in hand.Yesterday my girl had to go out of town to pick something up,she said she wanted a little company, and that I could burn one during the drive. That was all she had to say.It was a great day to go for a cruise and we both enjoyed the ride. I just wish I would've brought a bigger cigar...

Re: smoking in car

I have an awesome old 78 Chevy PU that is dirty and ugly but it runs perfect and is totally dependable. I love getting the chance to let the dog jump in the back and to go make a hardware run or what not... there is something about driving the old truck that is so relaxing.... pretty much impossible to be in a hurry in that big old boat so I guess that really adds to the enjoyment. I just set my stogie on the driver side rear view when I go in somewhere and pick it back up when I come out.

Because I am a Realtor dude for the paycheck I must keep my Honda clean and smell free but in the truck I have my stogies, my dog, my right wing bumper stickers incld NRA... and you don't get too many people pulling out in front of you in something that size either... specially in CA with some cigar smoking freak behind the wheel

Re: smoking in car

In and out of work and on my way home I smoke in the car. I never really bring anything outstanding in the car. Usually just and FDO. On trips I do like to have a cigar as well. My wife does not mind. I have found that at night on the road I am afraid of ashing all over myself. We just found out that our dog does not like the window open. She decides she needs to be in the front seat. That's not good for anyone.

Re: smoking in car

I only smoke in my car on long drives. The vacuum created by the window being open pulls the smoke from my palate too quickly to enjoy the flavor. For a while I would put the windows up take a pull and shortly after put them back down. Now I rarely smoke while driving...I just can't enjoy the cigar.

Re: smoking in car

I love the 50min. commute home from work. Perfect for lighting up and enjoying the sound of the road. (Especially in the spring and summer)I might listen to tunes on the way to work, but almost never on the way home. Just me and a good stick........mmmmmmm

Re: smoking in car

My car is my favorite place to smoke. Especially on long drives or when stuck in traffic. If you go back and check out my reviews over the years a great many start off with I was driving somewhere. I am in sales and am on the road all day and my car is my second home. I drive a Mercury Grand Marquis LSE and I also love my car. To me one of the great joys in life is when I have an early morning appointmemt that is an hour or more away. My wife burns CD's for me so I have lots of "classic" country music, a big cup of black coffee and a Bolivar CG and I am set. It does not get much better then that. I spend so much time presenting to clients that my time alone in my car is treasured.
