Habanos Poster from GB Question

Did anyone get the Habanos poster? I mine to Michaels yesterday and it was gonna be $750 to frame, but they are doing all framings for 50% off this week. I don't know if it was still too expensive, but I'm getting it done anyway.

Anyone else look into it?

Give me a year or two and I'll get around to doing something with it.

I cannot fathom spending $750 to frame a poster, yeah it's a cool poster, but not $750 cool. Maybe that's just me?

check out americanframe.com. you can buy a custom metal frame for alot cheaper.

$750 to frame? Even at half off that's just nuts! Did you check and see if they have gold plating instead of solid gold frames?

It's your money but that's what - a 30 dollar paper poster? If it was dyed inks on acid-free archival cotton I might consider up to $200 - and that would still be a might.

Damn am I in the wrong business.

The size of the glass requires a minimum size frame for it. That was the expensive part...the frame. I don't care much about how much I spent...hell, I spend 4x that much on cigars every other month and those cigars only last as long as I let them sit in the humidor...right?

Michaels is waaay too high for framing. I bet if you look at a local framing place it will be much cheaper. Even more so than the 50% discount.

Prints Plus is a good commercial business for doing this as well. They are cheaper than any other commercial place.

tchariya, yes they can iron out wrinkles. I used to work at a Print shop and I have mounted thousands of posters. If the guy/gal knows what they are doing, you won't be able to see anything. It all has to do with glue and the press machine they are using.

BTW, I don't have this poster, but I wanted one. Where did you all end up getting it at?

And there is a frame shop right down the street from me

$750 or $375 seems astronomical, but if it's all the same to you, I say go for it. I would find someplace to do it cheaper and spend the savings on some things you find on the poster.

That's what it would have been if I went with a metal frame, but I chose a wooden frame.
