NYC Manhattan Trip ~ where to go?
I'm visiting NYC in october with other couples. it's my anniversary and i'd like to surprise my husband by having researched where to go in NYC for cigar bars. He loves cigars. we're also traveling with a couple that owns 2 cigar store in Texas. Anyone have advice on unique cigar bars or things to do in NYC that would have to do with cigars? Thank you so very much! Kathy

LoL!Seriously, though, there are a number of places in NYC. I'd look in the "Where to Smoke" forum for a list in NY. Also, check out the "Herf" forum for the last couple NYC herfs -- there are always discussions about the different options for where to go. Good luck and have fun! I LOVE New York City!!! |

Re: NYC Manhattan Trip ~ where to go?
Merchants East has a great Cigar Bar on the lower Level
We normally hold all our gatherings @ this location http://www.merchantsny.com/east/east_location.php Also you can check out the Carnegie Club http://newyork.citysearch.com/profil...egie_club.html They have live Jazz music Friday nights... also the place feels like a throw back to the 50's so it could be a lot of fun to check out.. Enjoy Dux/Doug Feel Free to PM me if you have any questions If you have a large group then I would hit Merchants on a Friday night @ 6pm they have plenty of space and comfortable seating for all.. They open @ 6 so getting there early will get you a great spot to hang out and smoke.. The food is good for the price... They have a decent drink and wine list as well ![]() I should mention a lot of cigar bars do have dress code these days, Business Casual seems to work best.. Oh and No Sneakers :P Last edited by Dux; 10-03-2007 at 01:00 PM.. |

Re: NYC Manhattan Trip ~ where to go?
I highly recommend the De La Concha cigar shop:
http://www.delaconcha.com/ Right in the heart of midtown. Really great staff, decent prices. Small lounge you can smoke in and occasionally they have live jazz. Another cool trip might be to check out some of the handrolled places downtown. You can read about them here: http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar...2,1573,00.html As a disclaimer, I have not hit any of the handrolled places, but its on my list for a free day. I concur with the Club Macando suggestion. Its is a really nice place. You may want to call ahead because it gets crowded. Not sure where you are from, but it is a tad pricey but well worth it, especially if you are on vacation. |

Another great location is De La Concha located at 1390 Avenue of the Americas (between 56th & 57th streets). 212-757-3167. Place was awesome and the owners and staff were warm and friendly. They have thier own brand named La Concha which is a Don Pepin orginal. Pepin rolled these for La Concha before he hit it big. He still rolls this brand and the price is a steal at $6-7.00 per stick. Both stores will take orders and ship all thier products. De La Concha has a great selection of cigars. We also visted two Davidoff stores in Manhattan, and must admit these guys were pretty stiff shirted and judgmental. Despite 20-years of cigar smoking and knowledge they treated us like kids. It was not a great experience at either store, but to each their own. De La Concha was laid back, friendly, casual and warm. Davidoff was stiff cold, and very formal. All Davidoff employees wore suits and ties, which expalins the crazy prices. Hope you have as much fun as we did, but even a week was too short. |
