One of my best cigar experiences

I haven't smoked much lately, maybe three cigars in the past month (before this weekend, that is). The wife is away this weekend so it is just me and the kids.

I was itchin' for a smoke yesterday afternoon so I pulled out a Padron 64 natural (not sure of the size, it was a box pressed robusto-type) and poured a little glass of dark rum.

Let me just say that I enjoyed this probably better than any other smoke I have ever had. I just had to close my eyes and take in the aroma and the first relaxing moment I have had since I can remember. I enjoy the social aspects of cigars but this was just a nice private moment. I am not even sure any other smoking experience will live up to it. It wasn't only the fact that it was a Padron (although I think that had a lot to do with it), it was everything coming together in just the right way.

I also enjoyed the LFD DL660 later that night and the casa torano this morning. Making up for lost time!

Sometimes, the best smokes are when you are alone and can just press the pause button for an hour or so. Here's hoping you have more of these

Re: One of my best cigar experiences

Sometime when it's just you and the cigar, your focus and beverage match the stick. These times are what makes us BOTL. Only another cigar smoker knows that feeling. We empathize together as one and when you speak of these times here. We understand.
Smoking a cigarette is just smoking, smoking a cigar is an event!

Re: One of my best cigar experiences

Ive always felt that the being able to take the time to sit and enjoy the cigar, especially if you can pair it with a good drink, makes it a great experience. Whether you are sitting outside alone or herfing with a few buddies.

Re: One of my best cigar experiences

It's nice to sit back like that and really just enjoy a good cigar. I sat out on the beach of Alkai one night after work during this summer and really just relaxed all by myself. Wasn't smoking the greatest of cigars (just some mid range like 9 dollar smoke I picked up) but as you said, I think it was all the aspects just pulling together to make it so enjoyable. I relish the thought of experiencing that once again. Congrats again tho!
