Something else I've been wanting to say...

So, I've noticed a condescending tone sometimes when you guys are referring to flavored cigars. For instance, they've been described as "crap." Okay, I'll give you that some are really wacky, but I've got one thing to say in defense of them. They are one way to get a lady to try cigars. Last year, when Barney and I were first getting into cigars a salesperson at a B&M suggested I try one of the CAO package deals with one of each of their flavors. I kind felt like they were maybe marketed more for girls. Anyway, tried them, liked them, still like one variety, but now I'm smoking more and more "regular" unflavored cigars like Cohiba, Baccarat, Rocky Patel, etc. I actually discussed this with a female employee of our local B&M and she agreed. So, go easy on the flavored stuff, it could be one way to introduce your lady to the leaf.
And that's all I've got to say about that.

Flavored cigars are crap!!!!!!!

just kidding, flavored cigars can be a way to introduce someone to cigars that might not enjoy an Opus X. Good to hear from a SOTL.

I agree. There's a girl back at school who will smoke regular cigars with us know after first introducing her with flavored ones. I think it can be a great way to introduce someone to cigars that otherwise wouldn't even think about trying them.

Thats a great point. All though I can't say I enjoy flavored cigars, had a CAO vanilla that wasn't bad, I say "smoke what you like".

I agree with you. Most of the flavor infused cigars I think are crap, but that's not to say they're not another persons favorite stick. I, and I'll probably take some crap for it, enjoy the heck out of a Kahlua every once in awhile. They are my favorite flavored smoke, and I will occasionally buy a couple when I get the hankering for that kind of smoke. I don't stock them because the issue with ALL my stuff tasting like Kahlua, but I do enjoy them. To each their own, and taste is so diverse and individual that all that really matters is if YOU like what you're smoking. It all goes back to the no snob policy here, because there are other places out there that one mention of a flavored cigar and they are looking to burn you at the stake.

Oh the gender bias of your post!

Actually, some time ago, a guy friend told me he likes cigars. Turns out his favorite were Kahlua. Well, I suggested some nonflavored cigars and over time, he has developed a liking for "more 'regular" unflavored cigars."

So the moral is that it isn't just "ladies" or "girls."

p.s. Thanks for letting me write this without having to be too PC.

Re: Something else I've been wanting to say...

It's really all about freedom of choice. There's no right and wrong when it comes to enjoying cigars.

I work with a couple of guys that both smoke stogies.

Work buddy number 1 smokes grape swishers.

Work buddy number 2 smokes "genuine" cuban cigars he gets from a B&M. He tells me they're easy to get if you know where to go, wink wink nod nod.

They're both happy. I'm happy they're happy.

I'm happy with what I smoke.

The world's a wonderful place.

Worry not, different palates = different tastes. . . you enjoy your flavored sticks.

Well said, Fungirl. Even my wife has tried them thanks to the flavored variety.

I'll save wine for the women and stick with smoking for the boys.

I agree with Joe, the Kahlua cigars are enjoyable. I get complements while smoking them on how good they smell. Only smoked 3 or 4 of them, and will buy more.

I'd stay away from the Makers Mark Cigars though. Not good at all in my opinion.

Re: Something else I've been wanting to say...

Thanks for the comments. By the way, I really didn't intend for it to be a gender thing, although I guess that's how it sounded. It was really just an observation that flavored sticks may be a way to introduce someone to cigars.

I can't put it any better than this. Smoke what you like and let others smoke what they like. I work with a woman who smokes little flavored cigars. It's what she likes. And it keeps her out of my otterbox at the bar

Just having dirty thoughts about why they flavor things that would seem strange at first. I think you hit on something here.
