This & that & Punch Alt, a nice surprise
1) I'm not a hoity-toity type guy and 2) I *do* tend to march to the beat of my own drum. I like the music of Poulenc, Martinu, Prokofiev, Hindemeth, as well as classic / progressive rock, and late 60's early 70's bubble-gum pop. Inexpensive cabernet's, pinot's & zins and white "Turkey & Summer wines" and German and Belgium beers are staples in my house, but don't stick up my nose to American mass-produced ones (Gallo, in wine, and Miller & Bud in beer.) In cigars, I like a variety of Padrons, Olivas. Tatuaje (P1), Indian Tabac, Rocky Sun-grown, and Famous Nicaraguan also "do it" (for me). I haven't tried any Cuban's, but I hope to sometime (right now the high cost of shipping doesn't encourage me to do it anytime soon.) Anyway, what prompted me to write this post was that I just finished a Punch alternative from TNT. I must say, it was a pleasant experience... It got me to thinking that cigars doesn't have to be expensive to be enjoyed and appreciated. Now I have no idea how this cigar compares to the Punch it was trying to emulate, all I know is that it's a good cigar on its own. It's well made with a nice firm wrap, has an appealing dark brown color, yields a great draw, thick bellowing smoke, nice longish gray ash, balanced spice and leather (I don't like overwhelming leather!) You get the idea. Now I'm wondering just how close it is to a "Real McCoy" Punch. Like I said, I have no idea which cigar TNT was trying to emulate, so how about those who have smoked (TNT) Punch Alts and/or have the inside poop on them, give it up? Please
Thanks Johern |

Re: This & that & Punch Alt, a nice surprise
haven't had the punch alts, but i had the TNT Joya De Nicaragua Antano Alts & liked 'em-they tasted more like a JdN Celebration than an Antano, but good for the $

I will say that I agree, cigars do not have to be expensive to be really enjoyable.

![]() This is why it's good to try to smoke some unbanded cigars every now and then. Better to discover what you like with your sense of smell and taste rather than what you see on the label! |

Re: This & that & Punch Alt, a nice surprise
I heard good things about the JdN Antano's.... not so much about the Celebration. Thanks for the input.... cigars can be an expensive "hobby"; I'm always looking for a good smoke at a bargin price. At this point in time, (Famous) Nicaraguan 3000's have become a staple.
