Re: Do you actively "convert" others to cigars?

I jalways take more then one when I smoke with friends or family. If they want one, I am more then happy to share ( mild - med ones only ). If they enjoy them, then that is great! I let them know I would be more then happy to give them sticks to try, and point them in the right direction with things. If they do not like not a big deal for me.

I try when I can.
I have that problem too. Every time we have a party at our house, my meager stash vanishes entirely. A few good deals at CI or JoeCigar and my 20 ct is full again... until the next party. I can't seem to find someone to smoke with who doesn't need to be drunk.

I won't say exactly why,
but a few of my closest friends have started smoking recently..

I don't actively push people to be as eccentric with it as myself, but I enjoy gifting cigars to my friends who are occasional cigar smokers.

Re: Do you actively "convert" others to cigars?

My brother was a casual smoker. If someone threw a stick his way, he'd smoke it. For his birthday this year I set him up witha 20ct humi filled with sticks...converted

A buddy of mine who is a big wine afficia..aficia...drinker..brought some flavored sticks to Vegas for my bday last year. Now that I am hooked, I set him up with a 20ct humi and some mild sticks (he's not a big smoker, but there is always hope)...converted

I am trying to spread the love as best I can!

Most of the time I bring cigars when I hang out with a certain group of friends.
I think I have been successful in turning one of them into a Gurkha Ho since I bring him a Regent when I see him.

Re: Do you actively "convert" others to cigars?

I don't actively push people to smoke but if they show interest I'm more than happy to show them the light... usually non-smokers you meet tend to think of Cohiba the moment you say cigars (even though they've probably never seen much less smoked one). These ofcourse are the people who should be left alone because they will keep nagging you because nothing compares to a Cohiba and the first time they smoke one, take a few puffs and hurl for the rest of the evening and you end up with a chewed, wet and unsmoked cohiba.

On a more positive note recently converted a buddy to cigars he'd been interested for a while and kept asking me questions.. started him off with a few montes and he's working his way up.

I offer my friends cigars, but I wouldn't really call it an active effort to convert them.

I don't convert non-smokers intentionally but I do actively try to convert people who smoke machine made, gas station cigars to the real thing

Re: Do you actively "convert" others to cigars?

I converted my best friend when I bought him a desktop humi (with an Opus "A" inside) for his Best Man service at my wedding. Since then I've gifted him many great cigars (Birthday, Christmas, just because etc.) including his first Cubans.

He's a firefighter (FDNY) and he started a cigar club in his fire house. I keep trying to get him to join CS, but I guess he's too busy!

I have other friends that smoke cigars, and I've tried to get them to upgrade from their J&R specials, but they seem content with what they're smoking, so I've stopped buggin' them.

Ditto on that. I wished more people that live close to me smoked but I won't push them. Instead, I smoke alone or travel to other friends that live further away and enjoy a smoke with them.

Re: Do you actively "convert" others to cigars?

I only try to convert my friends that smoke flavored or gas station cigars.
Some still like to smoke their
Some now like to smoke the good stuff.

My humidor is always open if someone likes to try a cigar.
I even keep some mild but very good cigars just for that occasion.

Re: Do you actively "convert" others to cigars?

I strive to enlighten others whenever the opportunity arises. This is true for cigars, beer, spirits, or anything I enjoy, and want to share. I too, always bring extra sticks to events, in the hopes of creating converts.

Re: Do you actively "convert" others to cigars?

You bet! Just spent a week in Orlando for work and one real good friend already smokes but we convinced two others to try it and one of them bought a box of Rockys. Tell you what I live out of the US currently and have access to the cigars you cant get legally in the US, for those of you traveling, buy some good Ecuadorian, Dominican or Hondurans before you travel, most are fakes. Honestly they are not worth the double or triple the price!
