Wrapper cracking problem

Hey all,

I have been having an issue lately with some wrappers cracking. It only happens where I hold the cigar. I know I'm not squeezing them so that would not be it. My humi is in great shape at a constant 65.

I did notice that this does not seem to be an issue with the more oily wrappers or even some of the more toothy ones.

I do notice that my skin get very dry when the cool weather kick in and the electric heat comes on. I'm wondering if that may have something to do with it. Like my dry skin sucks the moisture out of the wrapper or something.

Anyone else seem to have this same issue?

I agree the toothy and oily wrappers are less prone. The shades and Conneticuts are more prone. I find it hard to believe your skin is dry enough to affect a cigar in such a short duration of time. Your RH is solid, so I wouldn't believe that's the problem. Any cigars in particular that give you problems?

Re: Wrapper cracking problem

In the last few days I have had no issues when smoking an Olivia series V, VSG or AF work of Art, opus x or Monti #2.

I did with a San Cristobal El Principe, more with PLPC and slight issues with a Monti PE. Each of these seemed to have a smoother, dryer wrapper.

Try leaving the band on and holding it by the band if you think it's your skin drying it out.

I would be more likely to believe that your hygro is probably reading a bit high, although some cigars just store better at higher humidity.

I'll have to try this and see what happens.

I'm using a digital which I calibrated with the salt method. I'm currently using the puck with 65% Beads and the hygro reads 65%.
