New Air Purifier - No More Burning Candles!

Wife let me buy this off eBay as Xmas present. It was $168 + $10 shipping. It arrived this morning via FedEx right before I left for work. I smoked last night so my 1 bedroom apartment still has a strong smoke odor. It has been snowing here since yesterday so I did not get to open the windows.
This purifier uses ozone so no one (or pets) can be in the house while this is running. I put it on max and set the timer to 1 hour, then left. When I got back home after work, I was amazed at the results. I did not get my usual "whiff" of cigar odor when I first open my door. The odor (any odor in the house, for that matter) was completely gone.
This could be a useful product to have for cigar smokers in snowing areas. But as I said, you need to have the area free of all living things for a few hours in order to have this thing work. It is also a bit pricey as the money can buy a lot of candles. I will update on long-term effects.

Interesting. I wonder how it works over a long period of time. Filter change or other replacement items?

Nice purchase...

I am curious about one thing though, why should Ozone prevent anyone (or thing) from being around it?

I have two Ionic Breezes in my smoking room and they run full throttle 24/7... They also create ozone, so what?

it is the concentration of ozone....higher amounts, such as what that machine prolly makes, will kill living things. the breezers only generate something like 2 ppm or something like that........i think it is around 50ppm that it gets dangerous

Maybe...

I just never heard about there being associated danger.

Yes, I know some people are sensitive to ozone and can't be around even an Ionic Breeze but that's a sensitivity.

Oh well, I don't know enough to say one way or the other...

Right. From my research the Ionic Breeze generate to the order of 5mg/hr of ozone, mostly as a by-product of ion generation. This baby generates 1300mg/hr (or so it claims). I highly doubt it's that much though as that's the concentration used to clear up smoke damages after house fires. But it's still pretty darn effective. I can also set the thing to lower and I will probably try that tomorrow and let you guys know how it works out.
Also, no replacement parts. There's a washable fiber filter in the back mostly to keep big dust particles from getting into the machine. Ozone is generated from this glass tube inside that lights up when on and is kind of like a fluorescent light. I'd think there's a life to these bulbs and I wouldn't know where to find a replacement either. If this thing breaks anytime soon I'm sure I'll let you guys know.

I definitely believe that ozone is a toxic gas. At the very least I have heard that it's a carcinogen.
Which brings me to another nifty little feature of this purifier - it comes with a little remote! So I'll just hit the timer from the door in the morning and get the hell out!

I have an ionic breeze. I personally think they could not handle smoking indoors. It would take a while to make a room smell fresh after smoking using this. I smoked cigs in the house with this on, and thought it was working, until my cousin came over and I asked him. He said it wasnt bad but could tell I smoked inside. I quit smoking indoors after that. Save your money and get something stronger.

I have a couple of the the GP units and I'm very happy with them. They do exactly what they are advertised to do without fail.

One of the few products on the market that work as advertised. I like mine alot and have several around the house and two in my smoking room. No complaints whatsoever.

So am I missing something here? Doesn't the Ozone that is created remain in the room after the unit is turned off?
