PAN vs. PAM

I hadn't had a smoke since Thanksgiving week because the weather's gotten pretty damn cold around these parts. I had, however, been eyeing a PAN Principe--which, I believe, was part of an outrageously generous bomb from tzaddi--in my humidor.

Yesterday, I decided that I was going to smoke the PAN, cold weather be damned. I'm sad to report that I found the cigar disappointing. It was my first PAN, and I found the cigar pretty light on flavor, and what flavor there was tended to be dry and papery. I was surprised to find that the PAN Principe has received slightly higher ratings on top25cigar than the PAM.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to have tried the natural version (CS generosity comes through once again) but I when I head to the B&M for a special treat, I think I'll stick to the maduro.

Re: PAN vs. PAM

I've smoked more PAN's than PAM's, but find both overpriced and lacking flavor, especially that natural.

I said this earlier in the week, IMO they are beautiful looking, overpriced, bland cigars.

I love the regular Padron line though and think they have more flavor and way better price. I've smoked about 5 vitolas total of the 26 and 64s.

You probably should smoke more... I would not consider either Padrón 1964 Anniversary cigars nor Padrón 1926 Series cigars to be bland at all. I concur on the beautiful looking, and the "overpriced" comment is all relative.

I actually tend to prefer the Naturals to the Maduros... but they are both great, just a bit different.

I believe it has been 4 naturals and 1 maduro. One of the naturals was great. My overpiced comment wsa based on the experience, if they lived up to what many others feel then they wouldn't be so bad, although some vitolas are quite expensive.

I'll try some more I'm sure.

Re: PAN vs. PAM

I like the PAN but I love the PAM. The Exclusivo is my absolute favorite cigar. I smoked a 26 maduro robusto size last night that has been aging for about a year in my humidor and it was a wonderful smoke with tons of flavor.

Re: PAN vs. PAM

I love PAMs, and find the PANs a nice change of pace. I think the PANs are more subtle than the PAMs, but they still have a lot of flavor and complexity.

Re: PAN vs. PAM

They are not my favorites, but are quality smokes that I enjoy. If I had to pick a favorite between the two I would go with a PAM.

Re: PAN vs. PAM

Personally I think they are both good but I like the chocolatey creaminess of the maduros.

Re: PAN vs. PAM

I think the PAMs are great smooth flavor delivering leathery coffee nuanced smokes. I have never had the PAN, mainly because I love the natural maduro sweetness in most smokes, so I figure stick with what works.

Also, I know people say these things are overpriced, but the PAM 1964's are roughly, depending on the size, start at $8.00 or so (corona and the principe - my favorites in the line). A lot of Pepin smokes are at this same price point and people go NUTS over those too. So, price wise, I really don't think they are all that far out there considering how smooth they are, which I happen to really enjoy smooth smokes with tons of flavor. My
