Your opinion needed - I sent package and DC# shows dlvd but buyer hasn't received yet

I wanted to ask my fellow bros an opinion. What should I do in this situation???

I sent a package off over 2 weeks ago and the USPS delivery confirmation # shows it was delivered to the address 1 1/2 weeks ago. The buyer claims he hasn't received anything. What should I do??? Am I fully responsible for the $50 worth of cigars???

To answer the question if you are responsible, unfortunately, yeah. You could have chosen to insure the package, so you bore the risk of not doing it. But it sucks, I know.

On a side note, who is the buyer? (That's a rhetorical question) Someone known here, with a good trader reputation? Try to work it out with them.

I would also try calling the Post Master for the zip you sent it to and see if they can track down the package. This could maybe solve some of these issues for you. Hopefully if the package was worth any value you insured it but I would go the Post Master route first and go from there.

The buyer is a member of CS. The thing is we agreed on a lot of cigars for $50. I told him that I'd eat the 3% fee from ******. I normally don't use insurance unless its an expensive item on eBay or rare cigars. I do business on eBay with other items and have never had a problem when using delivery confirmation. And with the rules and laws of eBay/******, as long as the seller provides a valid DC# showing the correct zip code the seller isn't responsible. Now if I didn't have a valid DC# then I'd have to pay the $50 back. I know I'm not the only one who understands these rules.

At the same time I don't have the exact 5 cigars I sold to the member. I've got a couple left but not all 5.

I think there may be something wrong with USPS because someone sent me a package that says delivered and I havent received it yet. I would give it a few more days then contact the post office.

Okay, those might be the rules of Ebay. To my knowledge though they aren't the rules of CS.

From what you posted it seems the buyer already paid you. As the seller it's your responsibility to ensure (not insure, ENsure) delivery. If the buyer didn't recieve the cigars you didn't deliver, therefore you need to refund his money. Again, I would suggest you try to work a reasonable solution out with the person.

Your statement doesn't make sense to me. The buyer didn't receive the cigars yet but I DID SENT THEM. My USPS receipt with the delivery confirmation # shows it was delivered over a week ago. Why is this my fault? Shouldn't the post office be responsible? And do you ship everything with insurance? I only ship with insurance if the buyer requests to pay for it. It is never the sellers responsibility to insure something. And one more thing, I wasn't basing my opinion of package delivery on eBay but with ******. ****** is what he paid me with not a personal check. So I guess I'll have to take it up with ****** since the buyer and seller are both protected from mishaps like this.

Sorry sir, those aren't the rules of eBay but ******. We used ****** for payment so we should both be protected.

Another thing I have to question is...if the DC# clearly shows it was delivered why does everyone assume either I didn't sent them? Possibly the buyer received them already???

That may not fly too well with ****** since they usually find a way out of paying anyone in these situations. One of you two will lose out.

Also, ****** doesn't take too kindly to tobacco products being paid for using their service... (I know, we all do it, but just thought it was worth mentioning).

I'm not getting into the who is right or wrong or responsible discussion, but I do have one piece of advice.

Make sure you transfer all of your funds out of ****** and into your bank account before you go asking them for help with this.
****** REALLY frowns upon using their service to pay for tobacco or alcohol. If you have funds in your ****** acount and ask for buyer protection they WILL freeze your funds and that will be the last you see of them.

You can check my feedback and speak with those who have made trades with me. I'm lightning quick on shipping and take care of my BOTL. But if this is how things are viewed upon and no one wants to back me even though I've provided all the documentation then I guess I'll take care of this on my own.

Not sure how this will sound, but is the buyer an established member here?

Also, I don't think it's a question of "nobody backing you". I think it's a lot of level headed gorillas getting all the facts before rushing judgement.

Re: Your opinion needed - I sent package and DC# shows dlvd but buyer hasn't received

The USPS, DHL, and UPS all throw packages on my front porch in plain view of the street and anyone walking by. I count my blessings I haven't had anything stolen yet, especially this time of year.

I would say you need to work out a compromise if it doesn't magically appear soon. It sounds like you already cut a deal on the original purchase the first time around.

Would insuring the package have made any difference here? If the DC# says it was delivered is the post office still responsible if the costumer says they didn't receive it?

Re: Your opinion needed - I sent package and DC# shows dlvd but buyer hasn't received

I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but the extra $1 or so for insurance is always worth it in my opinion when there is a transaction involved because it protects both parties. I've never had a mishap like this with the post office, but I know if it ever does, all those times I paid for insurance will finally pay off.
