Re: how to lower humidity for dry box
Put a bathroom sized dixie cup of damp-rid in it. Double up on the cup or use something of similar size because after a couple weeks the paper cup will start to get soggy from the water sitting in it, but it will bring the RH to around 60%.

Re: how to lower humidity for dry box
I was under the impression that those little gel cups will reduce humidity as well as add it.

Re: how to lower humidity for dry box
You could save up the silica gel packs that come in just about everything. You'll have to experiment with it until you find the right amount to hold the humidity at ~55%. Once you reach an equilibrium at 55% RH, the silica gel should maintain it for a while, barring any drastic swings in temperature or humidity.

Re: how to lower humidity for dry box
Buy some 100% silica (kitty liter) it works 10x better at reducing humidity than beads.

Re: how to lower humidity for dry box
I'm pretty sure Heartfelt now sells beads for 60% RH (as well as 65% and 70%). That would put you at 60% RH on the button. Might be a little above your targeted 55%, but you would have absolute precision and ease of mind.

How about a small refrigerator with evaporative technology?

Hi! I'm a Newbie looking for help! All my cigars have acquired a "chemical taste" over the last few weeks. They are kept in two separate humidors at 70- 75% on the hygrometer. Any advice?
Thanks! longknocker |
