Kiln Dried Spanish Cedar

When making a coolador are you lining there inside with spanish cedar ? If so where can you purchase the wood ?

I store stogies in cedar cigars boxes in the coolerdor.. That seems to work well for me. I've got enough boxes in there to help maintain the humidity.

I just started making my coolerdor Friday.
I ordered 6 16.25" x 3" x 3/8" cedar for shelves.
The shelf area is 12"deep x 16.25" wide.
I ordered 3" width boards, 3 for each shelf position for a total of 9" depth.
This way I'll have an inch air gap between each piece to allow air flow.

That is all the cedar I'll put in besides boxes.
I went with spanish cedar shelves for the aging properties that many say it provides.

I'll post pics when in my 'My New Addition' thread as it progresses.

I place my cigars in trays from my retired humidor and in ceder cigar boxes. This has worked very well for me up to this point.

they have a place here locally and they even cut the wood for me when i did my wine fridge. pretty cheap also considering what all they did.

I generaly keep my cigars in their cigar boxes and the boxes provide all the cedar I need in there to maintain flavor and humidity.

If however you're planning on using shelves in your cooler then it might be a good idea. Even then, the shelves are providing just about all the cedar you will most likely need.

It's a personal choice so if it makes you happy to line the cooler with spanish cedar than go for it but as I said, you don't REALLY need it to create optimum conditions.

That brings me to a question--are the cigar boxes made of regular cedar? or spanish cedar? In particular the padron boxes and AF, those are the ones I'm using in my cooler. PS, thanks to all the guys posting links to places of getting spanish cedar--eventually wanting to make a humi.

They are Spanish Cedar(Mahogany). Regular(Aromatic) Cedar would be wicked bad for cigars.

Sorry to hijack this thread but does any one know if Spanish Cedar goes by any other name in the lumber industry? I'm having significant trouble locating spanish cedar locally since no one here has ever heard of it. I live in Pakistan so going to one of the many websites offering it is an extremely expensive option for me.
