The Who Gifted Me This thread

If any of you are like me, you have a big coolidor but a small amount of gray matter. The result is that you can't exactly recall who sent/gave you what sticks. Also, if you are like me, you'd make a spreadsheet, but then you'd have to remember to use it (another gray matter problem).

So this thread is for us to try to figure out who gifted us the great smokes that we want to rave about, but can't without drawing attention to the fact that we forgot where they came from. Simply post the rave here and if the person who sent it to you recognizes their part they can come forward and say so. Sort of like Secret Santa for Amnesiacs.

I have a beautiful Por Larranaga that I think Chip gifted me only a week ago. It is a beautiful smoke and bringing a smile to my face as I type this. But I gotta admit, I have no real clue who gave it to me...

Could be. I suppose that one could give a shout out to "unknown" in there.

Come to think of it, I may have done that in that thread...

Get it, use it, love it, once your set up (which in theory could take some time if your collection is considerable) it is easy to update and account for stuff like purchase dates, smoking notes, pics, how you got them, price, sizes.... it is pretty basic, but free and deffinitly a step up from a simple spread sheet, and it is free, on top of that it is free, and easy to use, also it is free and already set up for you, plus to top it all off it is free!

Re: The Who Gifted Me This thread

I, too, have this problem of forgetting where a good cigar came from. I learned from my fellow gorillas in a picture I saw in a thread a long time back. Someone had taken a picture of his humi and I saw something that I stole.

When a bomb comes in, I sit down with a magic marker and a roll of scotch tape. I write on the tape who sent me the cigar and the date. Then when I smoke one I know who to thank. The only exception to this is if the stick is not wrapped in cellophane...I don't like sticking the tape directly to the cigar. I know some of our good BOTL have bought blank bands and write on them. That is also a good idea, but I'm too cheap and lazy.

I've heard it mentioned, but didn't know where to get it. I'm so going to use this. Now I just have to put the 700 sticks into it

Re: The Who Gifted Me This thread

I snap a picture, print it out and write the name and address of the sender and write below each cigar what it is and put into my cigar file. That's how I knew the very good Santa Damina that I smoked today came from JaKaAch on Sept. 13, 2007.

I have a variation on the WyBob theme. I snap a photo or two and post them here on the forum. Since I post the photo to my website in order to link it here I have started captioning the photo with the senders name. Essentially Club Stogie is my database.

No system is perfect I just want to ensure that I know where the smokes came from so that I don't re-gift them.

I usually snap a picture of the cigars I generously receive and name the image of whomever sent it. Keep the gray matter in check!

Send them all to me, i'll make sure to write your name down when they arrive, and remember you every time i smoke one.....hehe. joking, but man i forget what i did yesterday at work, so i can imagine how i would forget who and what, so for the bombs/trades i have received, i just keep the letter from the sender, and they are in an envelope on my desk.
