Question Temperature problem

Hi,
Since 2 weeks we have high temperature (near 42 celcius with the humidity), I don't have an A/C. I place a fan near my humidor but the temp. won't go down (is about 80 farenheit in my humidor). Any idea on what should I do to help the temp. go down ?

thanks
Nicolas

You need evaporative cooling, the fan alone is just blowing hot air around. Put a wet towel on the humidor and blow air on it. See how much that helps....

Re: Temperature problem

I have the exact same problem. I keep my humi in the basement now though. It usually stays in the 70-75 range. I would like it in the 65 degree range but with temps in the 90's everyday, its tough.

Re: Temperature problem

I would put it in your basement and see if that works.

Re: Temperature problem

It's already in my basement, but it's extremely hot and and the humidity is really high (near 70%) since 2-3 weeks. I'm feeling like a cigar in my appartement. I'm planning to buy an A/C this week. Thanks for the help.

Re: Temperature problem

Nic, I wouldn't rely on A/C to keep the temp down. That sounds expensive. Search the site for fridgador or edisonador. Using a wine cooler is probably optimal for warm climeates. In Quebec, you probably wouldn't need it even plugged in year round.

Re: Temperature problem

I am using a wine cooler right now to keep them cool because I also live in an apartment and don't have a basement. You could go that route. Once September rolls around I will probably just unplug it because I don't need it on during the winter.

Re: Temperature problem

Thanks for your help. Damn Quebec it's death freezing in winter and summer is way to hot and humid. Tomorrow night i'm going to go look for a wine cellar. Anything in particular that I should look at ? Temperature range, space, companies better than other, anything else you think I should look ?

Thanks
Nicolas

Re: Temperature problem

Search for wine cooler, winecooler, fridgeador, edison-a-dor, and you should come up with some good info. Too much stuff to retype right now, if you can't find it I will look around a find some old threads on it.
