Thanks for the link. Read some bad reviews of it though. However, most were people complaining that it dosn't convert to all the metric readings.

Re: Oregon Scientific Remote Thermo/Hygrometer $22

I read a complaints about it as well (before posting). The complaints were it only displaying degrees F on the remote unit and the Barometric Pressure indicator being an icon instead of a number. BP services no purpose to humidor monitoring that I am aware of, and if you really want degrees C the review said the transmitter unit could display that way. I am in the USA damnit and I use degrees F!

It might not be the best "weather station" as Oregon was billing it and the reviews being based upon. However for an easy lazy way to monitor your humi this will be top notch.

p.s. Amazon sells extra transmitter units for $15 each as well

I am personally still using the radio shack el-cheapo, but if I didn't have one or was stuck with an analog one I would certainly be buying one.

I haven't tested mine lately but the last time I did, it was very close 1% either way I think. My cigars smoke just fine.. I have the base unit and 2 sensors..

Your hard earned dough, so I don't blame you for asking Ken.. I know how I feel about my cigars and I want to insure optimum performance.

Re: Oregon Scientific Remote Thermo/Hygrometer $22

Like Floyd said, its your buck and you might have some really nice cigars you are protecting. The only nice cigars I have were sent to me by generous gorillas here. A hygrometer really isn't critical though and I put more money into my humidification system than the instrument that reads it.

Walk into Target and check it out tomorrow;Oregon Scientfic is sold all over the place. Unfortunately this will be back to $50 tomorrow on Amazon. They do have these on sale every couple months though.

When all the hygrometers available on the market are made in Taiwan or China and have a brand name stamped on them the company that markets them how do you determine accuracy and reliability? If seeing the name Credo on a Chinese made hygrometer makes a person feel more secure though, more power to 'em.

My Radio Shack hygrometer is off 2% and has stayed off exactly 2% over 3 salt tests in the last year. I probably won't test it ever again;
1) because if it changes another percent or two it will not adversely affect my cigars
2) I can tell if the humidity is to dry or wet the second I put my fact into my cooler and take a whiff of the wonderful air in there; the hygrometer is just reassurance.
