Herf-a-dor problem

Got a 5 count herf a dor form Cigarbid, came great but one of my buddys was moving and didnt finish his cigar but wanted to save it, he cut off the end at least 1/2 inch back from the cherry and i put it in my herfadpr, but when i took out the cigar it SMELLED sooo bad, and now i am afraid to use it for worry that everything will smell like stale smoke as my herfador does now, advice?

, that sucks. Air it out open on or by a heater, this will take a while.

I'd just leave it open for a few days to get rid of the smell.

Advice?

Cut your buddy off at least 1/2 inch from his "cherry".

Yeah ... as others said ... air that puppy out. May take a while ... good luck to you !

Re: Herf-a-dor problem

I would try wiping it down with baking soda and water, then letting it air out in the garage or outside.

Re: Herf-a-dor problem

This it would hurt the foam to get it wet?

Re: Herf-a-dor problem

Pull all the foam out and throw it away, go to the hardware store and buy some more. Wipe down the interior plastic with baking soda and water. Put a dish of baking soda inside of it and let it sit for a couple days, kind of like prepping a coolerdor. Once the smell is out, cut the new foam and put it in there and it's as good as new.

The foam is contoured though so i dont wanna put crap foam in there, I may just but a new one and chalk it up to lesson learned, CI says leave it open for a week or two, but i cnnot have my house smelling that bad for 2 weeks the wife would kill me... we will see how it does in the garage!

I would wash it in some unscented soap and water, rinse a few times, squeze out the excess water and let it dry.

A little soap and water shouldn't hurt the foam.

Re: Herf-a-dor problem

OHHHH Idea time, so what do you guys think about sprikling it with just dry baking soda, then letting sit and just refresh the baking soda every day or two, other idea was a peice of bread to absorb, dunno where this idea came from but it seemed like it would work!

Re: Herf-a-dor problem

Might be an oppertunity to kill the foam alltogether & go with beads, saving you quite a bit of headaches in the long run. You can replace the foam with beads from Heartfelt industried or Cigarmony & they will regulate humidity *very* well, using only distilled water.

I don't think I'd sprinkle the baking soda on the wood, but putting an open box of baking soda in the humi may very well do wonders.

Your talking about floral humidity foam, Ben is talking about foam that is in portable humidors that keep the cigars from moving around and getting damaged. Two different things.

Ben, the dry baking soda would work probably, just take some time. For today just throw your sticks in a bag and call it a day.

See ya in a bit.
