Re: CAO Vision?

Part of what I have heard about the Vision is that you are paying for the advertising and marketing of the cigar, along with the very extensive and awesome box it comes in. Personally I enjoy them a lot but the problem is for the price of them, even in Kentucky, at 8+ a stick there are other sticks I would buy too. Nothing sets it above and beyond that says 'buy me' over any other stick. IMO

I'm not angry with the CAO Vision. I just don't particularly like it; I find it to be a fairly boring cigar, and I think that the price you're paying is in part for the fancy packaging, which I could do without. However even packaged in a bundle, I would not buy these cigars. For my tastes, there are just many better cigars out there.

However, I agree with you... if you like the cigar, then screw everyone else. Who cares? Find a cigar you enjoy and smoke it!

Re: CAO Vision?

I think the problem with this cigar in the minds of a lot of people is the marketing of the cigar itself. I can see people (me being one of them) who sees the humidor with hygrometer as a gimmick. When you pay for a cigar, I would expect that the majority of the price you pay would be in the quality of the cigar itself, not the packaging. Seeing as these cigars price in the range of $15-20 a piece, I wonder myself what you are paying for when you shell out this type of money for a single cigar. Is it the cigar itself, or the box and allure of the image of this cigar.

Now I will be the first one to take this back if this is a spectacular cigar in terms of flavor and quality as I have not tried one myself personally. Saying that however, I think the bad image this cigar gets is more from the marketing and 'flash' than the taste of the cigar itself.

Re: CAO Vision?

Have not had the chance to try one yet,,as far as the packaging goes, I like the glitz and I even have a picture of the humidor/box as wallpaper..I believe the Soprano's box is somewhat the same.. Heck I even like the cardboard box the Brazilias come in..(You can put an engine and drive train used in a Lambo Gallardo into a Pinto but its alot more fun in the Gallardo)

Jerry(very superficial) in Minnesota.

Re: CAO Vision?

I like the cigar and the box. It's not my first choice when it comes to CAO and I hardly ever buy one but I use the box as another desktop and travel humidor. The box comes with a carrying case and straps on the inside that hold cigars in place if using it for travel. Imo, this box can't cost more than cedar boxes. It's just plastic, with a cedar tray, and few dollars of electronics.

Re: CAO Vision?

I could easily do without the box if it would drop the price of this cigar. I do like the box and would like one myself but at the same time if getting rid of the box means lower prices for the Vision... DO IT! DO IT NOW!

Re: CAO Vision?

I'm not a fan of many CAO cigars but I must say the box is pretty cool, gimmicky or not. The price we pay for most any premium cigar is ridiculous if you think about it. Just some leaves rolled up with a piece of colored paper wrapped around it.

I get what you mean entirely. The concept of cigars is so simple, yet we pay so much

That's because it's not just some leaves rolled up with a piece of colored paper wrapped around it. It's the whole process from planting to rolling. To picking the leaves and curing them. To bunching and boxing. To blending and tasting. Hand crafted boxes, for the most part, to boot! A lot of technology is used that I think we forget about that because all we see is the finished product. Simply, alot of work goes into making just one cigar.

Re: CAO Vision?

the prices we pay for ANYTHING for that matter to live life enjoyably sometimes makes me wonder. for 1) gas, 2) cars... do you realize how many cars they make in ONE day? and how many we buy as a country a year!?... where do all the left over cars go?... what a waste 3) Cigars, good "drinks" i'm not bashing on anything or trying to make a point really for that matter...

There is a lot of work involved, however did a single cigar really cost $28 to produce? You can buy a versace t-shirt for $200, the cost to produce may be .30 cents. I'm in the glass industry and we have a 300% mark up, just seems extreme.

Re: CAO Vision?

I am in the auto collision repair industry... the cost of labor + the cost of parts and materials.... wow. Although the materials are EXPENSIVE as hell already. 1 gallon of paint can cost up to and not limited to a couple hundred bucks, and thats not with a mark up.

HURRAY MY FIRST SET OF NANNERS!
