Band Whores

And i'm not talking groupies, either.Knowing that even against my better judgement,I still fall prey to smokes I normally wouldn't give a second glance to simply because the band just sucks me in.I was wondering if any of you ever fall prey to substandard smokes with neat bands?

I've been guilty of this in the early days of my hobby before I was familiar with the good manufacturers and brands. It would mostly happen when I would be in B&Ms browsing the shelves.

I bought my first La Aroma de Cuba based on the band...luckily, it turned out to be a good NC cigar.

Not exactly but how about the other way around. Have you been turned off becuase of a lack-luster band? Only to be surprised its a real good smoke.

Many times Greg, thats why CS and Top 25 are so great. I really tend to check those 2 places before I dive in, and the bombs really help out. I like pretty bands as well. Now if the band just plain sux, I can put one of the great bands Jeof(cigma chi) designs to put my material girl fetish to rest.

Ditto, now that I know what I want I dont really even look at the label as much. If you ever handed a selection to a newbie some good smokes that have mediocre labels and some mediocre smokes with nice lookin labels they usually pick the nice labels.

Yup, same here, atleast the ones that come with bands on.

The Flor de Murias I saw recently looks interesting though.

I first bought the Oliva O Maduro because of the cloth band. Turns out I really like these. I have been guilty of purchasing sticks just because I thought they were "humidor candy." Some turned out to be good smokes and some, I'm sad to say, didn't.
