A good smoking buddy of mine almost killed himself a few weeks ago while smoking a DL700 maduro. He smokes them all the time, but this time was different. He works for SBC as a lineman and was smoking while driving. He had not eaten all day and was on rt.75 heading to Dearborn. About an hour into the 6 1/2 X 60, he started to get the nic buzz. He ended up puking out the window

and went to pull over. The next thing he knew, he was waking up, upside down on the side of the road having flipped the truck about 7 times. The doctor told him the cause was the nicotine and low blood sugar. He ended up with a broken finger and very banged-up. on a good note, he did get back up on the horse and has had more of the DL700's, he just makes sure he eats first!

Crazy accident. I'm glad to hear your buddy is relatively okay!

I'm glad your friend and everyone is okay....

What do you tell your insurance, "Uh hello...I need to make a claim I overdosed on a cigar, yeap rolled my car 7 times." geez that is just crazy, I've never heard of anyone blacking out from a cigar.

If he's true a friend you might suggest a milder cigar for those road trips.

I hardly ever smoke while driving but on one of the few occasions I did, I had an accident. I attribute it to wet road conditions, bad tires, and excessive speed on a sharp turn....not to the cigar I was smoking at the time. I think it was a Java. - That could've been my first mistake.

Glad to hear your buddy is ok! Another reminder not to smoke on an empty stomach!!

Wow, if that ain't a case for eating before smoking, I don't what is! Glad he came through it seemingly unscathed.

WOW!! I'm glad he's okay. Ever since the Marine Corps, I occaisionally chew tobacco. I prefer long leaf tobacco like RedMan Golden Blend over snuff. Well, it had been about two years since I dipped and a few months ago on my drive home, I decided to buy a pouch. After about 15 minutes, I started getting those same symptoms. Almost like have a really strong buzz. I pulled over in a Home Depot parking lot and let it wear off a bit. I was really nervous to drive. After this story, it seems like I made the right decision.

That is a horrible story! I am supre glad your friend is okay and got out of it with only a broken finger. sounds like a good cigar tho!

That sucks, but it's good that he's okay. Kinda irresponsible of him, though, to puke and keep driving. My thought would be to pull over immediatly, and not try puking out the window of a moving vehicle I'm driving.

yeah...i always make sure to eat something before i smoke anything.

hell, there are times when i have a heavy meal, smoke a cigar, and still feel a little light headed. 0_0!@!

That's certainly taking the dreaded nicotine buzz to the limit!! Glad no-one was hurt though.

Glad your buddy made it through relatively ok. You gotta interpret the warning signs your body gives you. Start feeling dizzy or light headed? Pull over.
