Exclamation Anti-Smoking Forces

Penn State produces its own newspaper called the Daily Collegian. In today's edition they had an ad for the anti-smoking element.

It asked that if you liked smoke free bars, then next time you go to a bar tell the manager that they should go smoke free.

These people will not stop until there isn't any public establishments that you can smoke in. It makes me wonder why you don't see much of the smoker's rights groups campainging?

There is allready one bar in State College that has gone smoke free. I hope it isn't the first in a series of dominoes.

I actually think it is good if non-smokers state their views as you mentioned AND I can understand because I do not feel like smelling cigarettes in most places I patronize. I think that SMOKERS (as you touched on) need to be more proactive and tell the owners of these Establishments that they are happy patronizing them because of the freedom to smoke.

The bottom line is...

Business owners should be able to do any darn thing they want and live or die according to their merits and they SHOULD NEVER be victim to these scuzzy groups that use the back door with politicians to create laws that infringe upon that freedom.

As always, the squeaky wheel gets the grease but WE MUST keep the government from becoming the grease distributor!

Took the words right out of my mouth. Freedom's a two way street - and if a business owner wants to allow smoking, we have the right to patronize or NOT patronize that establishment if we see fit. Well said, Frank!

Re: Anti-Smoking Forces

I'm all in favor of non-smoking places but I also agree with Frank up there that businesses should be able to do what they want. The thing that pisses me off the most is these little panty waists that claim the bar has to be non-smoking. I'll cut this off before I go on a tyraid.

Re: Anti-Smoking Forces

Some very good points Rod. I do like going into bars and restaurants that are smoke free sometimes. Its so nice to come out and not reek like a cigarette. But, I think there needs to be a balance. Why does an entire city have to go smoke free? It would be more logical to have a referendum and break up the non-smoking and smoking establishments based on the percentage. Just a thought.

Rallly numerous smokers to pitch in and purchase an ad for smokers rights. Thanking the bars that allow free choice.
