Re: How Did You Come To Club Stogie?

It was all NCRadiomans fault. He got me started smoking cigars ,and then led me here. So now my wife can blame him for my new vice!

Re: How Did You Come To Club Stogie?

After buying a small travel humidor in Nassau in February 2005, I was having a difficult time getting it to maintain humidity, so I typed in "humidor" on Yahoo. Several pages into the search I ended up here. Asked a couple questions and couldn't believe how all these people who didn't know me from Adam (or hollywood) stepped up to the plate to help me out.

Like Dave, I have made more friends here than I ever could have expected. Most of them I have never met, nor even heard their voices, yet many of them are truly friends, friends I hope to meet someday soon.

I've been fortunate enough to meet Dave (klugs), Dave (hollywood), Jeff (jefe), Jeff (jeff ), Dave (dafu), Sean (gar), George (altbier), and Pete (AlCarbon). Fortunate enough to send and receive cigars and other gifts from so mnay others..Paul, Jim, Frank, Anita, Dale, Rod, Jenny, Skip, Mark, Jerry, Rick, Jason, Justin, Daniel, Greg, Dustin, Vito, Richard, Jeof, Tim, Gabe, Joe, Kyle, Scott, Ron, Pat, Ethan, Neil, Par, Richard, Raney, Josh, Patrick, James, Julian, Nelson, Doug and others. Knowledge I have gained and laughs I have had listening to Gary, Kelly, Paul, Mo, Kerry, Matt, Rollito, Steve, Natty and so many more of you. This place just feels like home.

Well I lurked here as well as on a couple other sites for about a month. Joined here after determining that this was a friendly, relatively flame-free site without a lot of hostility and anger that I saw on some of the other sites. I like the jungle, it seems like the average contributor acts like an adult which is sorely lacking at some other cigar sites.

Re: How Did You Come To Club Stogie?

I stumbled upon Top25Cigar looking for cigar ratings. I saw that there was a forum attached to it and the rest is history.

Re: How Did You Come To Club Stogie?

I got a pretty sweet humidor for my birthday - and since I was fairly new to cigars was looking for some advice and guidance. Did a search on cigars and this site seemed to have both a great deal of info and it was also easy to find. Read a ton of info on the site and decided to join. Hope to be here for a long time both learning and maybe giving out some helpful info as well.

A story similar to Tom's, only shorter of course . I was searching Yahoo for information on fake Cubans when I stumbled accross club stogie. I probably have the record for buying the most fake Cubans. I was buying boxes locally for my customers and it took time to realize they were mostly, if not all fakes. Fortunately my customers didn't know any better. I have one that still tells me those were the best cigars he ever had and wonders why I now get these harsh cigars.

I lurked for about 10 minutes and decided to jump in. Life hasn't been the same since. My wife thinks I have gone over the edge. She is right, she just doesn't know it is called the slope. A great bunch of gorillas here I am proud to call friends. So much for my story being shorter.

Re: How Did You Come To Club Stogie?

Well there I was .... my favorite **** site was down ... what was I do to?

Yes indeed ... hit google.

Now I had just previously googled "stogie", so when I added **** I ended up googling "stogie ****". I wasn''t after Lewinskiesque photos, you know. Honest ......

There it was on the first page, a thread on CS. Life hasn't been the same since.

But truthfully, I can't remember exactly how I stumbled onto this place. I was probably looking for information on the beads.

Re: How Did You Come To Club Stogie?

Searching for reviews, I got top25, which led here. Like many others, I would lurk many forums, having joined several as well but not posting much. The simple fact was that I wanted information, mostly on the cigars I was thinking of purchasing, but had no tolerance for the trollish, flaming, confrontation for the sake of confrontation . Still dont. By poking around CS, I learned that cigars could be discussed intellegently without rant, even when opinions differ.

It really had nothing to do with the fact my hard drive was full and had to check out something else on the internet that didn't involve downloading ...
