I am starting a Cigar Club need some ideas!

I am starting a Cigar Club here in Idaho. I have opened it up to Emergency Services Personnel (Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters and EMS) I need some ideas on how to start one and where to hold them. I have about 20 confirmed that want to join. Any Ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest finding some cigar friendly bars/restaurants. Perhaps you may find one with a special cigar room where you can host the meetings.

Also, contact Carlos Torano cigars about this. They have provided a box of cigars to another CS member who started a club at his university. LSUStogie I think.

You can also consider your local B&M if they have a nice place to meet with refreshments available. Maybe you could talk them into staying open late for your meetings and they might even volunteer (but don't expect it) a discount to club members. All of it would (and remember SHOULD) be a benefit to their business so this way you will be scratching each others backs.

You might want to consider holding a fundraiser (auction, golf tourney etc.) for disaster relief in getting it started which will appeal to manufactures, distributors and dealers in helping you get going. If you do manage to hook up with a B&M then they can help you with contacts and or donations to make the fundraiser a success.

The one I 'belong' to has one party a month. Usually at another members house. Some months though it comes to a local bar. There is food/drink and admission at the door that covers it all. Usually they are sponsored by one of the local reps. You don't get great cigars but you do get free cigars. There is a raffle where you can walk away with something. You can get the name of these reps from your local b&m. You would be amazed at what they will do for you since you are providing a group of people who would use their product.
Just have fun with it.

Somewhere central with ready access.
Someplace that's smoke friendly, whether bar, lounge, restaurant. Places with outdoor patios are great in the summer time.
Somewhere that either serves food or has nearby access to food. With good herfing you almost always get hungry.
Attendance will vary a lot. Sometimes only 2 or 3 people will show up, at other times you'll have full attendance plus (you just won't be able to figure out where they all came from).
You'll find it a great bonding experience.
You might want to think about bringing extra cigars to trade with.
