Retailer/For Profit Sales Forum Question

Have a general question that maybe some of the vet's can address regarding posts from Retailers in the forum. As I become more educated about what constitutes a "Good Deal" by using sources such as CigarCyclopedia, C-Bid, etc....I have a much better understanding of what really is a good deal and what I can realistically expect to get these for (5'ers, boxes, etc...)

I saw a post in the forum touting "Great prices on XXXX Cigar" (I am not going to name the source) and when I went to the website and looked at the prices they were pretty high and a lot more than what I could normally get these elsewhere. My first thought was to reply to the Retailer post but I did not as I did not want to make a stink. My goal for posting was to alert everyone here that these cigars can typically be found a lot cheaper elsewhere.

what is proper etiquette here? Just curious and I would also like to caveat that for the most part the retailers here are AWESOME

Thanks

Re: Retailer/For Profit Sales Forum Question

Good question! I'm pretty sure I know the thread you are referring to and I also clicked on the link only to find the prices less than favorable.

I'm not sure what the rules are, but from my perspective it's pretty unfair to criticize a retailer for not beating the prices you can get on c-bid. It's an action environment and prices vary. Sometimes you get a great deal and sometimes CAO's go for $35 each.

As far as comparing one retailer to another, I'm curious to hear what other people think about this and what the rule would be.

I go by the rule buyer beware or to each his own.

Re: Retailer/For Profit Sales Forum Question

In general that forum is for retailers and members that are trying to make a profit (albeit the amount of profit varies) and etiquette is that you should only post to ask questions so as not to clutter up the thread/forum. If you think it is not a good deal, do not buy or question the seller as some folks in some areas may think it is a great deal. This is all just my opinion but you are more than welcome to ask a mod via PM.

It may be of help to the retailer if you politely pointed out the lower prices elsewhere.
Maybe they'll come back around and beat it.

Re: Retailer/For Profit Sales Forum Question

It's a place for retailers to post things. Reminds me of when I was a young lad and had a serious misunderstanding about TV ads. This is the "best" kind of comments in ads. I really thought the networks/government policed these things and .. well they were all true. Like anything else you buy, grandiose vendor claims should be substantiated by becoming an educated buyer.

The forum should have some rules in it. Generally speaking, it is not cool to comment about retailer offers negatively. However there are exceptions for misrepresentation etc.

I would be more inclined to point this out via the pm system rather than posting a negative in the thread.
