One Convert at a time...

So a few of my friends know, I know a decent amount about cigars so they are always asking me questions. We smoke together here and there when the weather is permitting and if the night looks welcoming for a cigar.

One of my friends in particular has been smoking quite a few cigars as of late thanks to me, and has been getting everything that i point out for him to try. Needless to say last night when Ben (my buddy) and I were smoking a fonseca something or other (it was smaller than a petit corona or around there atleast) I about shed a tear when he said "you know blake this cigar almost taste woodsy, kinda like cedar almost." I simply said- "Ben that's awesome that you could pick that up dude." and he casually said "from now on i don't think i'm going to smoke flavored cigars, I really enjoy picking out these woodsy notes and other things in cigars"

Man did i feel like a champ.

Nice when you can share with someone you enjoy spending time with and they actually begin to "get it" Enjoy the cigar smoking time going forward, sounds like you may have someone to smoke with regularly who has begun to appreciate it as much as you do.

You're a lucky fella, man. My guitarist smokes cigars now and then, and I was gifting him Havanas to smoke while we play poker. He lights 'em and says he likes them, but invariably comes to the next game or practice smoking Acids or some other flavored thing. He says he likes them better. What are ya gonna do, eh?

My brother, on the other hand, was a pipe smoker who I've slowly converted to a cigar smoker. I gave him a fiver of PSD4's when I got my last box and he called me up and left a long message on my answering machine saying "this is the best cigar I've ever smoked. Hints of pepper and spice and..."

I thought he was reading it out of a cigar magazine! He sounded like a true aficionado!

It's a great feeling to help a friend along this wonderful road we travel. I recently helped a friend get started enjoying decent NC cigars. He jumped in with both feet and bought one of the Blue Chip cigar/humidor combos from CI. He's a happy man and I feel good that I've been able to start him along the path.

I use the word loam to describe a rich, sweet, earthiness.....

I too have been on an absolute quest to convert all my friends into cigar lovers. So far I have hooked about three to four guys, more on the way. After all, to me, there's nothing worse then wanting to smoke a stogie and not having anyone around to enjoy it with.
