Question House Blends

After seeing one of these in another thread and ordering a few, I got to wondering what "house cigars" the rest of you smoke regularly.I ordered some El Originales samplers from
a shop in Florida, and noticed another shop in Key West has a house smoke that got some decent reviews in Smoke magazine. What other little gems are out there?
Keep in mind that I'm landlocked in the land of burley and not in the tropics.

Re: House Blends

My limited experience only includes some Thompson crap and some JR Ultimates (big dark Churchill or larger, #60 that's all I know) which were a gift from a co-worker. I thought the JR Ultimates were pretty tasty. The Thompsons (several different ones) left a nasty taste in my mouth and were terrible. I compared a 3 day old AF 858 Florfina from the ashtray on the porch to the Thompsons, and it was much better than the fresh Thompsons.

Re: House Blends

Coffmans in Stuart, FL has a pretty good house blend. Not bad for an everyday gar. I'll post a review after surgery. They're sort of the "legendary" Tobacco shop around these parts. It's too far away for me to make an every week stop. More like a once a month stop.

Oh Lord....Thompson's house brands. Cardboard is better...The way Thompsons words their ads too makes it sound like they're all in short supply because of good tobacco shortages, but every catalog the same crappy house blends are for sale. JR ultimates are okay, but the JR alternatives suck too. They taste NOTHING like the cigars they try to clone.

I think you'd be better off with a good bundled cigar.

Re: House Blends

I picked up one of Uncle Mikey's (aka Mr. Bundles) Honduran Selection and was very impressed. I smoked this while doing some work on my car yesterday afternoon. Burn was perfect, taste was right on for a midafternoon smoke, and you can't beat the price for that good of a cigar, I want to say it was something like $1.25 a stick, maybe $2. I will be buying many more of these, and I will also try his Nicaraguan Selection. My girlfriend also brought some back from Havana Dreams in Tampa, I am looking forward to trying these
