Re: Peterson Cigars?

I don't know what size or line or whatever I had, but I had one that was in a sampler pack with a couple other cigars. I wasn't impressed. I also didn't have to pay for it, it was a freebie. I don't think I personally would buy it if they were more the $2 a stick.

I don't know anything about the ones in the bottom pic, but I've had the ones in the top. They are decent. They're an Ashton product. I remember them being peppery.

Re: Peterson Cigars?

The Peterson I smoked was on an empty stomach...very peppery and gave me a wicked buzz...

Re: Peterson Cigars?

I've had a peterson.. it was pretty good. I believe they are made by Ashton.. Who also makes Savoy which are cheaper than peterson cigars.. I had one of the higher end peterson cigars.. forget which one, I did have a review of it but its probably long gone now.. it may have possibly survived the crash so a search may turn it up but I dont recall much about it other than it being good.

Re: Peterson Cigars?

I had a Peterson Grand Reserva Robusto that was gifted to me by Frank and Anita. The construction and burn was flawless and like Tom said, it had a very peppery taste. To me, it leaned more toward the mild side. It was a good smoke IMO.

Re: Peterson Cigars?

Cool. I didn't know Peterson had a cigar line. I love their pipes, but I've never been a big fan of their pipe tobacco. I'll have to keep an eye out for these to see if that holds true for their cigars as well.

I have a Gran Reserva in the humi that I bought on the recommendation of my local guy. Haven't smoked it yet, but he raved about it.

Re: Peterson Cigars?

Not to dredge up an old post. But for once I did a search on a cigar I found before asking a question

I just Smoked a Peterson Gran Reserva Robusto with a natural wrapper this evening. It started out peppery like Catfish said which for me is a good thing but it went down hill from there. Quite a hard draw, but not plugged. But not good smoke for me. Last half was not all that enjoyable. Bitter and grassy and tasted "off" Not sure how to describe it. Just not right. Not something I will be looking for again. It is on my do not try again list.

I would echo most of Stacey's comments above. The one I smoked had sort of salty/briney taste to it. Not enjoyable by any means. It's on my do not try again list as well.

Cheers!!

Re: Peterson Cigars?

I have smoke around 15 of the robusto size from a bought box last year. I haven't found the bottom picture yet to sample. I would like to. But the GRan Reserva I thought were good. They are peppery. I love the cameroon wrapper around a NIC filler. They marry up great. The cammy seems to smooth out the bzz you usually get from a NIC cigar. They are indeed an Ashton product or Fuente. However you view that whole mess.

Re: Peterson Cigars?

Judging from the comments here, inconsistancy must be a problem in this line. I've smoked 2 or 3, all robustos and really liked them. Price to me was the problem, about 125 a box especially if their inconsistant. I have one left in the humidor and unless I run across them at the local B&M its not likely I'll have more.

Re: Peterson Cigars?

The couple that I have had were good cigars. Burn was excellent and I did not have any problems with the flavor. Problem is they were just too much like about 100 other cigars that I have had, only more expensive. I my opinion, you are paying for a nice box and the Peterson name.

Re: Peterson Cigars?

I've smoked a coupel now, there were decent smokes IMHO - not worth Retail, but I'd definately grab them if they were in the bargain bin.
