Re: College student smoking

i dunno what your campus is like. But all the stores downtown on the UofM campus get away with murder for their prices... your looking at a Ashton VSG running you around 30... INSANE RIGHT!? try anything from the 5vegas line CAO line rocky patel if you can spend the money on a vintage 1990.. great smoke. Try something from Punch maybe a rothschild. Onyx is another good one. there are a lot of good sticks for right around 5bucks a pop. Or check online good prices there! as always.

Re: College student smoking

Your best bet is to order something online from another state so you can avoid the taxes first off, and second you can avoid the highly priced cigars in your local area. Im sure if you look around you can find some pretty good deals. Hell, JackSchwartz is running one helluva deal on Padrons right now..... Jump on it!

The LFD Ligero lines are pretty cheap and very flavorful. Also most of the Padrons (non PAM's) are usually under $8 a stick.

Re: College student smoking

im in the same boat so i know how you feel.

some that i like that are inexpensive are

indina tobac (have tried a few and like them all0 about 45bucks for 25
gurkha 1887 churhills about 100 for 24
cao blacks about 120 for 25

so there are ltos of good sticks out there fo under 5bucks (which to me is super cheap as cigars localy range from 15-150)

I like the advice of "ordering out".

Re: College student smoking

Oh, crap. That's a dangerous question, because you're going to get answers like this:

Check out Cigarbid.com. I'm sure you've heard of it. If money is tight, you'll have to be CAREFUL to not be like the rest of us who initially went nuts, bidding on all sorts of "deals of a lifetime" until we were pumping out $200 on our first orders... which, granted, were great deals and probably included 50+ cigars or so.

Here's what I'd suggest: If you lurk on cbid for a while, you'll be able to buy a 5 pack of Rocky Patel Vintage '90 or '92 for somewhere in the vicinity of $3.50 per stick. I've purchased 5 packs for as low as $13... but generally, I'd say they're about $17. At my local B&M, a RP '92 Torpedo (single) is probably $9. So, the savings are, well... more than substantial.

So, cbid is a GREAT way to get good cigars cheap. However, that will require a bit of research, because not "all" cigars on cbid are good deals... so you'll have to figure out regular prices before you figure out what to bid.

Here are some cigars on cbid that (to my recollection) are fantastic deals:

Anything Rocky Patel (try the Vintage '90 or '92 first)
5 Vegas cigars... and they're cheap to begin with
Anything Gurkha (not my favorite, but some are $10 msrp, $3 on cbid)
CAO (not my favorite, but a good buy... I'd suggest the Brazilia line)
Punch (again, a decent cigar... and lots of 'em on cbid)
PADRON "regular" cigars, NOT Anniversary (not a "great" buy on cbid, but a very, very good cigar... and if you can get a fiver for $20 or less as part of an order of a couple of 5 packs, it's a good buy)

So, my suggestion: Buy 2-3 5 packs. I'd suggest RP Vintage, 5 vegas gold (if you like mild), and a 5 pack of Padron 2000/3000/londres/delicias. You'll be spending $40-50ish, but getting 15 cigars. Put 'em in a tupperdor or cheap humi, and you'll be set with great cigars for $3ish per stick.

But be CAREFUL. Cbid can suck you in, and instead of getting 2-3 5 packs... next thing you know you'll be buying 50 cigars at a time. NOT a good way to save money!

Good luck.

There are other brands

The place on Plymouth Rd. by Marco's pizza and the Shell station is your best bet in AA for prices.

I just bought 2 more boxes of Padrons off JackSchwartz. Probably will be here today come to think of it.

Just go ahead and skip all the other crap and go straight for Padron! w00t
