As far as Rocky Patels, they finish the cigar except for the cap and then perform a draw test. Up to that point, identical in every way, same tobbacco, same parts of the plant, etc. Then the cigars get capped, with the draw seconds seperated ('seconds'). Then they inspect the wrappers for flaws and seperate those for 'selects'. I suppose from that point they could be stored seperately, but I highly doubt they have seperate humis for all three versions of the same vitola. Next time Rocky comes by i'll ask him.

The parts of his line that may get 'inferior material' are his counterfeit brands. IIRC those are supposed to be same tobbacco, but different rollers, and presumably stored differently.

I love the RP x-outs. Less than $3 per stick (sometimes under $2) they cannot be beat. IMHO

I am stocked to the gills with Rocky Patel Factory Selects and Factory 2nds. What the heck am I gonna do with bands and boxes? I tried smoking them. Yecch! -- had to wash the taste down with bong water.

RP Factory 2nds corojo and maduro are the Best Bargains - longtime smokers may notice only a slight difference in taste.
Love the Costa Rican maduro wrapper - I do not believe it is available on the first-line cigars.
