2nds? opinions?

i've noticed a lot of 2nd's... like for example "Rockey Patel vintage 1990/1992 2nds" on cbid or bundles that will say 2nds on them. I know this means they were held back for some reason.. i think? and i've heard that they are ok to smoke but are they just as good as the ones that didn't get held back? i mean they got held back for a reason... right?

from my understanding, most of the time they are seconds for "cosmetic" reasons. same cigars, just didn't make quality control for whatever reason.

I'm a big fan of the Rocky Vintage 2nds. They smoke just like the firsts.

I enjoy Connies (Consuegras). They are from the Villazon factory in Honduras & are seconds to Punch, Hoyo, El Rey Del Mundo, & JR Ultimates. Seconds usually need some time in the humidor but are usually excellent.

well, I boldly approached Rocky's brother Sam at Corona Cigar in Orlando during a Rocky event that Rocky was running late for. Sam can be found at a lot of RP events and is younger than Rocky.

I was talking about the seconds and asked him if he could tell the difference if he was smoking both,and he said "no" and neither could Rocky.

He explained that all RP cigars go through some high tech light test that verifies some sort of uniformity or something complicated. The ones that don't pass go as seconds, Sam told me.

I can't verify the truth to this or reven remember the specifics of the test, but know I prefer paying 3 bucks a stick to 3 times that fora wrapper.

I got my 1st RP Ving 92' about a week ago on Cbid. Can't tell the difference except for the price. CI has them for $49 a bundle but I just got a Churchhill bundle on Tue for $34. About the average bid price. if you like RP 90' or 92' that's the ticket. They shipped out today. Can't wait to lite one up.

In general I buy more RP seconds than firsts, soley because I can't tell a difference. Taste great, and a lot cheaper. I looove my RP's

Unless you are a band whore, I can't think of a reason to buy RP firsts. The seconds look perfect (I have three different bundles) and I can't tell the difference with the firsts I've gotten in sampler packs. I've had no burn issues with them. And for $3 I don't mind giving them to a non-smoking guest that wants to try a cigar.

I have no problem with 2nd's. I've always been pleased with every batch of 2nd's I've picked up.

I won a bundle of La Aurora 2d's from the devil site a couple of weeks ago. They are just fine and well worth the money.

The RP seconds are terrible, don't ever buy them! Especially on cbid, I can't take the competition.
