Habanos Torres Identification

I am a meat head. I have been seeing the name "Habanos Torres" floating around. Tonight it hits me, "Hey dummy, you have smoked one of those and it was great." I checked out the website, but didn't see this band on any of the sticks. I got this stick from "screwbag" in a PIF about a year ago. Anybody know which cigar this might be? I am thinking it was a Toro, maybe a Corona. I just remember it was good. Any help is appreciated.

Here is the band:

Yep I think it was a corona: Here is the cigar:

I think that's an 8 year aged blend but I'm sure Matt will correct me if I'm wrong.

Me neither. I was thinking more of you giving them a call or maybe emailing that photo to them for an ID. I'm sure they could help you out that way...

Well, that is a great idea! I told you I was a meat head. It has been a rainy disgusting day here, and I think my box is getting hard to see out of. Thanks for the flashlight, man.

You are correct, sir.
I just got off the phone with Tim from Habanos Torres. He is a stand up guy. The one I smoked was a 8 or 10 year blend. He is gonna whip me up a bundle and put a custom label on them for me. Very cool!

Re: Habanos Torres Identification

I think I'm the only guy in the world who didn't like his experience with Habanos Torres.
Matt sent me a 30 year stick and I told him it was like smoking my asshair.
He's going to hook me up with something else from HT to see how it goes.
I think my problem is that I don't care for a "dry" cigar. It seems "dry" stuff always comes with a peppery note that I hate.
That's for another thread...

had just the opposite - when I first spent time with Tim and worked up a little sampler to take home my first thought was "damn these seem wet and spongy"

Had one of the 8-years on the drive home from there and it was great. Couldn't believe how great it burned and how long it lasted. Also got a 15, 20 and 30 year (I think...there were no bands and I forgot to mark them) waiting for a special moment

There you go smokeyscotch, answers are only a telephone call away sometimes. I hope Tim updates the website soon so you have a better reference of sizes/rg, whats available, and better close-up photo's of their cigars...

That is your problem right there...they are meant to be smoked fresh...straight off his rolling tray...no need aged these gems.

Re: Habanos Torres Identification

Yeah that band is normally applied to the eight and ten year stuff. Although if you got it in a PIF, Tim wasn't really using too much ten year tobacco at the time.

That one may not have recovered from transit shilala.

That band is Tim's original band and he plays kinda loose with the bands sometimes. My roommate bought a bundle of 30 years a while back and they had that band on them.

This brings up a question for me that one of you BOTL could hopefully answer. I have not yet tried a HT cigar, (But these threads have my mouth watering... ) so my friend and I are contemplating a call to Tim for a batch of some 30, 15, and maybe some 8 year sticks. However, we are a bit worried about storage/freshness of the sticks. We are both college students, and we don't have the time or money to smoke several cigars within a short time of their arrival.

So, are HT cigars best fresh, or will they hold or improve with time in the humidor? I could see aging a few for months or up to a year before making a second order. (Or I could simply have to keep going back for more, and aging won't be an issue...)

Thanks!

Bryan
