Not smoking is driving me nuts! lol.

I'm not a habitual cigar smoker by any means but you know how when someone tells you that you can't do something - your mind just obsesses over it?

We are having physicals done next week for our life insurance policies and hubby and I aren't smoking to make sure nothing shows up on the tests just to make sure. We are occasional smokers and want to make sure to be classified as such.

I only smoke them occasionally but right now - just because I can't smoke any of my cigars - I find myself thinking about it all the time!

Plus, I'm congested so probably shouldn't be smoking anyway...

Ahhhhh....If you made it this far, thanks for letting me vent!

How long does nicotine stay in your system?

Re: Not smoking is driving me nuts! lol.

From blurtit:
http://www.blurtit.com/q218666.html

Trace nicotine can stay in your system for 20 or more days, but usually if the employer is testing using urinalysis, then your system is likely to show clear of nicotine in two to three days if
you are an occasional user, or when you use, you use a small amount , or your history of using tobacco is less than six months.

Your system is likely to show clear of nicotine in three to five days if you use once or twice a week, or when you use, you use a moderate to large amount , or your history of using tobacco is more than six months but less than a year. If you use most days of the week, or when you use, you use a moderate to large amount , or your history of using tobacco is greater than one year, then your system is liely to show clear of nicotine in five to ten days.

If the employer uses a hair test, the amount of time for your hair to show clear increases, but most employers don't use that method because it's pretty expensive.

You can help flush nicotine more quickly from your system by drinking lots of citrus beverages, high in Vitamin C during the first several days along with moderate amounts of water; the vitamin C speeds up the metabolism of nictoine by your body, and of course the fluids will help with the excretion of that metabolized nicotine through your urine. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Excellent info, thanks! I wonder if the vitamin c in orange juice or the lemon water I like to drink while smoking is also the reason why this helps so well in keeping a clean palate and having a more tolerable breath.

Re: Not smoking is driving me nuts! lol.

I'm with ya. I've been on the verge of catching a bug for four or five days now, so sparking up a cigar doesn't sound too good right now even though I'd love one.

Not sick, but not a hundred percent by any means. Must be Flu Lite.

Ah well, that 1st cigar is sure going to taste good in a few days.

Re: Not smoking is driving me nuts! lol.

Eh. Try living where the weather is crappy and there's good way to smoke, all winter long, lol. I go through this annually! (Er, every winter, I guess...) No cigars for weeks on end. D'oh! But it's just another reason to look forward to spring, where I can get back to a few cigars a week and time outside. Woot!

And for you, sounds like the end is near! You can make it another week... just enjoy the anticipation, and pick one of your best cigars!

Re: Not smoking is driving me nuts! lol.

I feel your pain with not being able to smoke. I got slammed with a quadruple whammy. First I live in Illinois so I can't smoke in bars or pretty much anywhere anymore, second it's winter and too cold to smoke outside and I won't in my house, I've also been working 12 hour shifts the last month and haven't had the time let alone energy to, Lastly I've been sick for the past few days with some kind of evil chest cold so I can't even go to a B&M and smoke. I'm done with all the ranting I guess sorry for the little hijack. Think its time for some more soup and OJ or tea

Hang in there, Darlene. Saving $ on premiums will be worthwhile! Soon you will be back to your puffing ways.

And thanks for the helpful info on nicotine in the system. Would make a good sticky!

I feel ya!

I'm anxiously waiting for a little bit of warmer weather, I'll park myself in the backyard and light up the firststogie in a while. I had a couple in January(nfl playoffs), and a couple in Mexico, but nothing really noteworthy. Just a little bit above 0, please!

Re: Not smoking is driving me nuts! lol.

I'm having to give up for a couple weeks due to excessive tongue bit and the doctor said so for a couple weeks. Burnt the heck outta my tongue and being a hypocondriac currently, and at the shoving of a friend, went to get it check out. Doc's orders, nothing for 2 weeks. Course, did sneek a Padron in the other night . . .
