looks like a few days and you'll be fine. My wife and I are in the same boat. The nurse comes on March 4th. We told them we occasionally smoke, and they gave us non-smoker rates, but just to be safe we had our last one this past weekend and we'll be firing one up the night of the 4th.

I got my results!!!

I am in perfect health - ranks in the top 95% to get the best rate.

Please don't put yourself through three weeks of agony like I did. I would say three or four days just to be sure - a week tops!!!

Told you.
Mine was three days and was perfectly fine.
Something about cigars and not inhaling that it does not go into blood stream as cigarettes do.

The law is that you must tell the truth at the time you take out your insurance policy for the policy to be valid. So, if you lie about smoking, then the policy is not valid. (If you begin smoking after you take the policy out, then you did not lie and the policy is still valid).

However, the Federal Government passed a law a few years back, that says the insurance company has two years from the policy date to uncover your lie. After two years, if they haven't caught you, then they must honor the policy.

This law was passed to prevent insurance companies from taking your money for several years, then upon your death, launching into an exhaustive background investigation into your life to suddently discover you were a smoker, or engaged in high-risk hobbies, etc. and then using that as an excuse to deny the claim.

Correct except would disagree with the first part in bold.
There is no one law.
Fraud statutes vary from state to state.
Some states don't even have any.
First and foremost would be any statutory requirements if such a statute exists.
Next, the policy language would have to contain fraud language relative to the application addressing any material misrepresentation voiding the policy (just about every policy has it but you would be surprised the variations that exist and any ambiguity would go in favor of the insured).
Also key, which smoking would be, is whether the misrepresentation is material. If it would impact the cost of insurance or perhaps not accepting the risk, then it is material. If you lied about something not deemed material, no biggie.

Re: Need Help, Life Insurance

Do they do tests for like this in order to get normal health insurance or only life insurance? I may be switching health insurance companies within the next month. I've never been without it, and I currently have it, so is a certificate of credible coverage enough to switch normal health care providers?

yes, usually a certificate of continuous coverage is enough.
