Trip to Alabama
I don't know how many golfers we have in the jungle but, I thought I would share a little child-like excitement I'm feeling at the moment.
Last year I decided to go to Gulf Shores on my first golf trip for a week. I am 43 and by far the youngest guy of the eight fella's who make the trip from Illinois..I guess I like hanging around the older guys because I tend to learn and laugh allot when I'm around them. Anyway, we travel down in two vehicles and the guys that I ride with all are fellow BOTL's. I'm surprised that a state trooper some where along the way didn't stop us because we looked like Cheech & Chong going down the road from all of the cigar smoke. It is the ultimate guy vacation....golf..cigars...fine adult beverages & lots of seafood at great restaurants. We plan to leave on this years trip this coming Friday & I can't wait!!!! ![]()

Re: Trip to Alabama
Nothing better than a cigar and stiff drink on the golf course!

Re: Trip to Alabama
I love Gulf Shores/Orange Beach! My in-laws have a condo down there and my wife and I always spend Thanksgiving there.
![]() You definitely should try out Doc's Seafood Shack and Oyster House. Go to the one in Orange Beach, which is the original. If you are coming from Gulf Shores just go East on Perdido Beach Blvd (182) until you hit Orange Beach Blvd. Take a left on OBB and just follow it until it deadends into Canal Road. There is also a pretty decent Cigar bar called Our Cigar Bar (http://www.ourcigarbar.com/). Their cigar selection isn’t the best but the lounge area is nice and the bar is well stocked. The Original Oyster House is also another great place to eat. http://www.originaloysterhouse.com/ Their peanut butter chocolate chip pie is freakin’ awesome. Man, I'm jealous now! I can't wait until Thanksgiving. ![]() Where are y'all staying at?

Re: Trip to Alabama
That sounds like a lot of fun. Good time to get away from this sucky Illinois weather too. Except for today, the high is 62 degrees!

Re: Trip to Alabama
Another great reason why CS is such a good place. You can get advise and recommendations about any place or thing you ask about. I love the fact that wh0re was able to give some good ideas about where to eat for Warden291. The jungle is a dangerous place, but it's also home to us Gorillas.
A cigar tour of Florida would be an excellent idea for our out of state brothers. Tampa, Miami, Orlando and many other great places to see with cigars, golf, theme parks, beaches (gee, you'd think I worked for the Tourist Board). Anyway, enjoy your trip Warden291, sounds like you're going tohave a great time. ![]()

Re: Trip to Alabama
If you like Golf, you need to take a little longer getting to Gulf Shores and hit a few of the courses along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Have a good time. |

Re: Trip to Alabama
I'll second the advice about hitting up the RTJ golf trail. Auburn was rated as the #1 public golf city in the nation recently.
