Which cigars are not worth their asking price?

Before I go looking for a "super-premium" to knock my socks off, I want to know what everyone thinks about the high-priced candy at the B&M.
(Stole the idea for this thread from Punch - thanks Punch!)

I have a few that I can list, but I'd like to see if anyone else mentions them here, first...

Re: Which cigars are not worth their asking price?

I would say that most are overpriced.

But here's a funny thing. There's a B&M in Hilton Head Island, that I can call and get Opus X's sent to me for a decent price. (Less than MSRP)

I've not found a web site that could touch his prices. Go Figure.

Grayclif, Gurkha, PAM, PAN,

If I was not so frugal, (don't like the way Cheap sounds), it probably would not matter to me. Even I have my limit and I just won't pay big dollars for boutique smokes.

Re: Which cigars are not worth their asking price?

Montecristo Afrique ( Hated it)
Montecristo White ( Big Deal)
Ashton ( Nice but over priced)

I haven't tried alot of them as I'm not really sure I WANT to find a pricey stick I like when their are so many good sticks at a reasonable price. I haven't found any cigars at the local shop over $8. that I felt were worth the price.

Opus X
Ashton's
Red-dot Cohiba
DC Max

I like these, just over-priced IMHO.

All of the brands I was thinking of have already been mentioned except for one... Are Davidoff cigars worth their prices?

Re: Which cigars are not worth their asking price?

For me, it is the Opus X. First let me say I loved this cigar. The best non-cuban I've had to date. For the $23 my wife spent on it though, I could've bought 4 others that I would've enjoyed (just not as much). I will say that I did ask for it for my birthday. She's a great wife!

Pretty much anything from a B&M. I still buy singles there, but only when I want to try something new. When you buy a box, the cost per single is normally worth it. For instance, a single Punch Rare Corojo is like $9 at the B&M, but when you buy a box online, it becomes $2.50.

Re: Which cigars are not worth their asking price?

I would say cigars like the OPUS X , Cuban LEs and Monte As (Habanos).

I do not know why they are so expensive and rare. Its all about maketing and supply and demand.

It s*cks for us !

Re: Which cigars are not worth their asking price?

Padron Anniversary Natural 1964. Not only was it overpriced and didn't do anything for me, I actually disliked it. Put it down after two inches. Didn't taste like anything I wanted in my mouth. I know a lot of brothers love this one, but I've had $2.00 sticks that I wouldn't trade for that nasty thing.

Re: Which cigars are not worth their asking price?

Heck, it is easier to tell you which ones I think are NOT overpriced!

Punch (as a whole)
Sancho Panza, if you like them.
Grand Habano. Again, if you like them.
Schimmelpenninck, if you can find them.

The brands above are for the most part well made, burn well and give lots of flavor for a minimal cost.

Also, nearly everything bought at a B&M is WAY overpriced for what you get. But that is the nature of the business.

Syvman,
Davidoff's are overpriced. Then again anything over $4 is too high. I do enjoy them when I smoke them though.
