I tried foam tape, but then the lid wouldn't close right. Been meaning to get back and get some of the super thin strips for shower doors and try those. I would also love to know of anyone else who had luck sealing a poorly performing humidor.

I had no luck with mine. I found that it wasn't doing a good job of holding humidity, but didn't find anything with the light test. So I decided to add a layer of felt all around the top edge. Well, that meant that the lid no longer closed properly. D'oh! Fixed that, but still had problems.

So then I noticed that the part of the lid that slides down into the heart of the box seemed to be slightly smaller than where it was going, so I thought it wasn't actually pressing against the sides of the humi. So I removed it and glued it back on (it was just held there with staples!), making sure to get it as tight as possible. Well, that opened up holes where each of the four corners came together!

So I got some beeswax and used it as filler in the sides. Does a so-so job, but my felt job was poor, my woodworking was poor, and the wax looks weird.

I have noticed that when I close the lid, I can see it raise back up ever so slightly. I am starting to think that if the thing just had a lock on it, that would be enough to keep it pressed nice and tight and thus the seal would be better...

So my next idea is to get some sort of a latch and add to it. At the worst, I screw up a humidor that already doesn't work well... What the hell, I got it with a sampler pack anyway. I wanted to bring it into work to have some cigars on nice days, but if it won't hold humidity, I might as well find an inexpensive way of bringing a few with me.

I also have a humidor of the same design, but I think it's even less quality. I think I'm going to go the coolerdor route, alot cheaper and alot bigger. I ordered some beads yesterday, we'll see how those work out.

You can always buy a 'dents & dings" humidor from Holt's for $20. I've got one and it appears to work great (glass top Savoy). But be warned, you probably will need a coolordor soon anyway, so that may be the best option!
