Have no fear, these tiny gems are still at a solid 65% this morning

Fishbeadtwo gave me a fine mesh bag and a "new" hot tub filter/mesh at the last herf. I think I will put a teaspoon of beads from a broken bag into the mesh bag and put it in my cigar caddy and see how well they work in there.

If nothing really changes in the coolerdor in the next few days, I think I will fill up the wine cooler. It has a clear door so I can start tracking how long it takes to recover after the door is closed.

Have a great weekend. I'm on 1st shift today and will be on 3rd shift tonight

Take care
Ken

An ounce of that stuff should take care of about 500 sq inches, so make sure you use enough.
I just got a traveling humi today and it's about 150 sq. inches.
I made up 2 HCM soft beadsticks for it. Used 2.5 ounces in each stick with velcro on them.
It's cause I'm mental.
I bet it'll keep the humidity right on the money, though.

This is the Cigar Caddy I have:
http://www.cigarcaddy.com/products/15_stick/

Any ideas of how many teaspoons it would take?

The Caddy comes with a little (aprox. 1" dia.) P/G humidifier installed.

By the way, cooler RH is rock staedy @ 65% this morning. I have a HERF tonight so tomorrow I will move everything to the wine cooler for some more testing.

I didn't see any dimensions on that thing.
I ended up redoing my sticks in the traveling humi. Down to 2 one ounce sticks now. They were too heavy and looked nasty.
See what the dimensions are on that thing and I'll tell ya how much to use. I'm thinking an ounce of beads is about two tablespoons and a smidgen more, but I'll check that, too.

Plan change, so I'm working day shift after all this weekend and didn't have the caddy with me.

I did found the dimensions online. http://www.fuertecases.com/Merchant2...roduct_Count=4

Looks like 120.1095 ci. for the 15 count.

So 1 oz. = 2 heaping table spoons
1 oz. for 500 ci.
2 tsp. for 166 ci.

So if my caclulations are correct, then 2 teaspoons should be fine for my 120 ci. cigar caddy, Right???

I don't think I'd use less than an ounce. When you get that small you're really relying on surface area to deliver the water vapor. A long skinny tube will work way better than a little ball.
That's why I make all the soft beadsticks. Lots of surface area.
I checked and 2 1/2 tablespoons is an ounce.

Thanks Scott, I'll give it a try.

Dang, I need some more hygrometers

Time to add some to my wish list.

Rob at Taboo has them on sale for $19.99. If you grab one of his coupons, that makes them dang near free.
I bought three last week.

Thanks.

I haven't posted for a couple days because your beads are boring, they haven't moved from 65% in a few days

I may be moving everything to my wine cooler soon so I can time how long it takes to recover.

Thanks again
Ken

Yeah, I agree. Those beads don't provide a lot of comic relief, and their overall entertainment value is pretty much dictated by my ADD. You oughta sit for a whole day stuffing them in little bags. Makes it tough to find positive things to say about them.
