Rocky Patel Old World Reserve

I had a chance to attend a cigar tasting this evening at one of my local BM's. It featured the Rocky Patel line and I got to enjoy a RP 1990 Churchill with Nish Patel, Rocky's brother and head of sales. Now with him being the head of sales I'm sure he was biased, but Nish kept raving about the Rocky Patel Old World Reserve that will be released towards the end of October/November 1 time. A couple of things of note about the cigar:
  • They want to take on the Padron 1926 with this cigar
  • It should be retailed between $10-$12
  • The band will be at the foot of the cigar and is made of tobacco that could be smoked
  • Nish called it their best cigar yet

Again, with him being the head of sales I'm sure he is biased, but this is a good heads up for the Rocky Patel fans out there. I hadn't heard of this cigar until this evening.

I believe it debuted at RTDA. Retailers wanting to sell it had to purchase $10,000 worth of other RP goods before they got the chance. I am looking foward to trying these. you might want to try this thread:

Re: Rocky Patel Old World Reserve

I won one of these in a raffle at an RP event at Macabi Cigar in Plantation, FL...it's gonna be a great cigar but dunno if it can take on the Padron '26...and I've had both...the RP OWR has a beautiful silky smooth veinless wrapper...dark and oily, and the flavors are incredible...but the Padron '26 is in a class unto itself...

A Smokable band!! Thats thinking outside the humidor!! I dont like how they try and compare it to the PA26 though.. just take pride in the product as it possesses its unique own personality. I love the PAM64 (I haven't tried a 26 truthfully) and I love the RP edge Maduro Missle! The edge missle packs a freaking punch and are great cigars! but the PAM64 (and im sure 26) are in a league of their own.

Re: Rocky Patel Old World Reserve

Is it me or are there a whole lot of Rocky's out or coming out now? I am definatly a fan, not too long ago I had a box almost full of sungrowns, edges, and cameroon ledgends, but man is this guy making cigars.
There is something to be said about trying to get a cigar to fit the profile of every one of your smokers, (like CAO). It's hard to get excited about another new Rocky.
