I got the sampler and liked the Kuba Kuba the best.

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?
The Acids with the Blue Labels(1400cc, Blondie, Kuba Kuba, Kuba Deluxe) aren't to bad. I just had a bad experience with the Nasty and needless to say I thought it was nasty. IMO it tasted and smelled like potpourri. I thought I was in my grandmothers bathroom when I was smoking it. Just my opinion though.

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?
Acid One- the only non-infused in the Acid line. The tobacco is cured in wine casks.
Atom Maduro- Fairly light in the infusion and not as sweet tipped as some of the others. Liquid- Very light bodied and light on the infusion as well. Earthiness- One of the stronger bodied of the Acid line, Medium infusion. 1400- Medium bodied and medium to full on infusion. Kuba Kuba- Medium bodied and full infusion as well as the sweetness. Nasty- Medium bodied and light infusion( think rosewater.) Kong Cameroon- Medium- full bodied medium infusion. The least favorite of the Acid line for me, The cameroon wrapper dosen't mix with the infusion IMO. Blondie- Full bodied and strong on sweet tip and infusion. Deep Dish- Kind of a Kuba lite, but boxed(ok, more like rectangular (sp?)) pressed. Ming- Big (6x60), medium bodied and medium full on infusion. Extra Ordinary Larry- Big(6x60) and mild- medium bodied and Medium on infusion. Cold Infusion Tea- Mild bodied and medium to full on infusion and sweet tip. I always taste a pine like flavor on these...don't know why. Hope that helps a little.

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?
A lot of gorillas here hate Acids with a passion, but that's their opinion. Honestly, if you want to try some go ahead and try them, just be sure to smoke singles since it's either something you'll love or hate. I started out with Acids until I got more used to the taste of plain tobacco, and I think some are an OK change of pace.
The Saint got it down mostly. I thought the Cold Tea Infusion was more medium infused, though, but palates are different. The least infused one that I've tried would be the Atom Maduro, which has a sweet earthy flavor to it that doesn't overpower the tobacco. May want to try that one first. The Blondie is really infused and tastes like honey and cream, so if you want to try one of the more infused ones that'd be one. Reviewed a few Acids a while back. Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?
I personally haven't liked either of the acids I have tried (to sweet) but If I had to recommend one it would be cold infusion tea simply because I think they smell great. If you don't like it set it down in your ashtray and it makes great incense. I love when a buddy smokes one of these because the aroma is awesome, I just don't care for the sweetness

I bet if Padron or Fuente put out an infused line people would swear by it....

Don't feel weird about it either. These are expensive cigars in high demand, and if you find you like them you will have plenty of company. Only the small-minded will think less of you, and that does not include anyone on this forum, some comments notwithstanding. |

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?
Good info here. Like I said, I don't go for flavored or infused smokes. I'm a red-blooded, Padron-smoking guy. Just have been reading about them for years and got the itch to give it a taste.
Funny part is I'm sort of expecting not to like it. I'm headed to a shop here next week, I'll see if they have singles. I agree that a one-off is the way to go. Thanks again for all the opinions. |

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?
A little update. I discovered that I had an Ambrosia cigar in my cooler -- don't remember how I got it (must have been a trade or maybe a Famous sampler). I apparently didn't realize at the time that it was a Drew infused creation, otherwise I wouldn't have put in in there. But since I've been thinking about trying the Acids, I thought I'd light this one up for an idea of what they might be like.
I'm not going to get into a full review, but suffice to say my curiosity is gone. The thing was just sickly sweet. I don't think I ever tasted any tobacco on it. It was well constructed and burned perfectly, holding a good couple engines of rather pristine white ash. So it might be for some folks, but alas, not for me. I'll stick to the more traditional stuff. |
