Thinking about trying Acids - advice?

Okay, I'm a sucker for catalog copy. But I gotta say, I've always been a bit intrigued. I don't smoke flavored or infused cigars, but ... I dunno ... I'm curious.

So any Acid smokers out there who can tell me where to start? Obviously I don't want to be hammered over the head with botanicals, but I also want to get the true Acid experience. There's so many different varieties I don't know where to begin. Any suggestions? Or anyone just wanna talk me off the ledge?

And also, if I pull the trigger, do I need to keep them in a seperate cooler?

I don't know enough to give you advice about the various ones to try but I do know that you MUST put them in a separate cooler! Otherwise, the flavors will marry into your other non-flavored sticks.

Start with the blonde. It is pretty nice, best of the few Acids I have had. Yes, keep them in separate cooler, but I'd just us tupperware instead of setting up another cooler until you decide if they're for you or not. Also, you may want to check out the Natural line, also by Drew Estate--they're not infused, but are flavorful.

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?

Yeah I had a Natural and rather enjoyed it - one of the things that encouraged me to try the Acids.

The naturals are good - Pimp Stick!!! Nice!!! Even the Def Sea!

If you want Flavor go with the Kuba Kuba or the Nasty!!!

The Blondie was my worst experience. Smells nice then slaps the crap out of you!!!

It all has to do with what you like in a smoke. Try a couple and compare!

Don't drop acid! It is path you don't want to go down.

Seriously, I have never tried them but if I want flavored smokes I usually grab my pipe or a pack of cloves...

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?

I've been curious about them as well. What Acid would have a vanilla type of flavor?

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?

I've smoked most of the acid line when I first started. Like most of the gorillas, I prefer a full-flavored smoke. The Blondie & Kuba-Kuba are the best in the line, although you can find a review on ihe "Java" that some seem to like. The best vanilla flavored cigar I've had is the CAO "Bella Vanilla". A box of 5 Petit Corona will run you $12 at www.cigarsintl.com.
Hope that helps!

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?

If I had to smoke an Acid today, it would be an Extraordinary Larry. It's about a 6X60, and it's on the stronger side.

All that being said, I haven't had one in quite some time. The last flavored cigar I had was Natural Dirt (6 months ago). Decent sweet smoke.

Try the blue blotter and have someone who is not tripping keep you company for your own protection. Seriously, try a cremosa instead.

Re: Thinking about trying Acids - advice?

Acid samplers come up from time to time on the devil site... probably the easiest way to get a variety of Acids.

I like a aromatic/infused/flavored cigar once in a while as a change of pace. For me, I like the fact that these are some strange alien flavor instead of trying to match something real. Kinda like when you some nasty ass artificial strawberry or chocolate flavored milkshake or something... I want real strawberry... not this artificial strawberry crap. The good thing about the Acids is that it is "out there" in the flavor profile and not trying to simulate a more conventional flavor. For me, that was a good thing.

The Kuba Kuba and Cold Infusion Tea are my favorites of the group... and C-Notes cigarellos are not bad either.
