Wine cellar construction - help please

I have been working out some details and have decided that I require for the betterment of myself, my cigars and wine collection (small now but we know how that goes), and my girlfriends sanity I NEED a wine cellar.

The thought can to me when looking at a cooled Cabinet Humidor and think of the 4 K price tag and I realized that wine requires the exact RH and Temp that I want to long term store my boxes at. Thus a cellar could solve two problems with one stone.

So the question is I have done the required reading and have construction basics and temp control down but I have never seen much on humidification devices for a wine cellar other then the mins and maxs and maybe the odd put out a source of open water.

So the question is what should I use for to insure a steady Rh of approx 55 % to 60 %??

Or am I best to build a wine cellar and store my cigars in a coolidor in the cellar thus controling the RH in the coolidor and the temp of the cellar will bring down that of the coolidor?

All thought and ideas welcome.

K

Depending on your collection this could be a huge undertaking. Anything with some size to it would require active humidy IMHO(but I am a noob). If it no bigger than a cpl vinos, beads could also work.

They do have dual zone wine coolers. Keep you sticks perfect and your wine happy too.

Re: Wine cellar construction - help please

I grew up in a house with a wine cellar. I believe it was about 10x7x8 (LxWxH) with floor to celiing wine racks, and I have to say the most outstanding experience of that cellar was the smell. It smelled like a wine cellar, not a humidor. When considering this project that would be my main concern. Seems to me all the full-fledged wine cellars I've ever seen end up with that smell to them after awhile.
